This second (primary) BC is again on the right side, they are going to try to find sentinal nodes again. Did any of you have this done?

Sorry you find yourself here again. I had a local recurrence, same breast, and my PS was able to do a second sentinel node biopsy. He was willing to try to keep me from a total dissection if not necessary, but did warn me it might not work. Instead of the single nuclear injection he gave me two (twice the ouchie!!), and was able to locate and remove four nodes (none of which were positive). Between my two cancers/surgeries, I've lost a total of 11 nodes on my left side, hopefully reducing my risk of lymphedema.

I hope your surgeon is able to offer you the opportunity to at least try another SNB; if not, could you seek a second opinion?

I had 2 surgical consults with my recurrence. One was a BS at Mayo. She is doing research on trying find sentinal node after prior surgeries. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. My local BS tried, but they were unable to identify the sentinel node

Thank you Ladies, I was so curious about this because of course no one wants to have lymphedema! My radiologist told me today that on the Ultrasound and MRI my lymphnodes bilaterally look clear. So Kbee did they have to take all of your lymphnodes?

They could not find s sentinel node, so surgeon felt around and took out a hard clump which looked and felt like a node. It came back positive for cancer, so 13 more nodes were taken. Later analysis found no lymphatic tissue in mass. There also was no breast tissue. It was a IDC tumor just growing in the soft tissue
