Tamoxifen

hi. I have been on tamoxifen for 5 years and then stopped. My doctor told me that a new study recommends taking it for 10 years. I refused to take for additional 5 years and now i am one year off tamoxifen
Want to know from others did you stop or continue beyond 5 yrs.
Is it true that tamoxifen stays in your body for quite time how long anybody knows
I am afraid of cervical cancer risk that is why i refused to take it

Hi Nilelady - I'm at 3 1/2 years, and my onc also recently recommended 10 years after previously recommending five. I'm not doing it. There is a newer test that may assist in the decision. It is called the Breast Cancer Index (BCI) here is a link to it. https://www.breastcancerindex.com/ordering
