A good friend of mine's girlfriend's birthday is this weekend. He has no clue what to get her. She spends much of her time in bed in pain. We've thought of jewelry but she's swollen up. He loves her and wants to get her something 'different'. Any ideas other than books? He has max $100 to spend. TIA

Hmmm. What about a home masseuse? Gentle of course, with lots of nice smelling oils.. Or a home mani pedi apt? She would probably love to be pampered while in bed..

I would say silk pajamas - vintage or hand crafted perhaps which you can find on etsy.com to keep the cost to under 100. I have a shop on there and I buy a lot of gifts for my cancer pals there since many of the sellers support our cause or create and curate things for such purpose of people in pain to make them comfortable.

Also I am fond of essential oils in a nice aerator to have near the bedside. It's a lovely way to enrich a space for someone who spends a lot of time in bed and creates a relaxed environment.

    Hope this helps

If she enjoys reading (and it is a good distraction from pain) then maybe an Amazon Prime membership for downloadable books, or audio books and music. An Apple I-tunes card for music also. Then she can pick to her own tastes. A Book of the Month Club is good if she likes to get mail. Any kind of "...of the month club". Wine, cheeses, fruit, etc. I'm mentioning things I would love. Oh, and yarn! If she crotchets or knits, she may want 2-3 pretty, soft skeins of washable yarn.

Agree with the essential oil diffuser and 2-3 jars of oil. Lavendar! Good luck

Warm soft wool socks in a pretty color? My friends sent me knee socks (not wool but warm and fuzzy inside) when I started chemo, and they have been a wonderful "security blanket" throughout treatment and testsand for when I'm just feeling like crap. (They are turquoise with jellyfish pictures --- an inside joke among these friends :) )
