I had double masectomy Sept 26 with reconstruction. All lymph nodes clear! Pathology came back good only the 2.2 cm tumor-no surprises. My genetics tests was pretty good, although I had a "variance" in PTEN gene but not a defect. Estrogen+,Progesterone +,her2-. I go to cancer doctor tomorrow, hoping to avoid chemo and just getting the antihormone pill but I wonder if that's realistic. Stressing waiting for tomorrow.....

    Hi Hkuester!

    Will you be having the Oncotype test done? That might help you/your doctor decide whether or not chemo will be helpful for you. Otherwise, you never know. The only part of your signature that possibly indicates the necessity for chemo is that your cancer was Grade 3. Hope you have a productive meeting with your oncologist!     thanks. I think that's the test they did on tumor at surgery but only got "pathology is good" from breast surgeon. I guess tomorrow will be the day of reckoning. Luckily I have a great oncologist that explains everything, just really hoping:)

    Hi Hkuester - we had surgery a day a part and are probably in a similar wait for the results. As I understand it, the Oncontype DX test takes about 2-3 weeks and the score on that will give your BS or MO the opportunity to help you decide whether to have chemo or not post surgery for early stage cancer. At the same time, they do send the pathology for lymph nodes out to be completely checked in the lab. They may also be the results that your BS mentioned. The good news is that we are almost st Monday and you will hopefully get good news soon. Hugs to you

    Mombytheriver..How's your pain level? Last few days for me have been worse probably I did more, but it feels like I'm doing nothing at all. I guess I'm just having a bad weekend. I hope your recovery is well.

    Elaine . Oncotype 38. So 6 rounds of chemo two drugs....every 3 weeks:(

    My pain level is up and down. I am trying to use Advil during the day and the narcotocs if it get really bad - like later in the day. It has been weird as my skin even hurts as I think my nerves are starting to wake up. Inhave been exhausted too.I have my two week check up tomorrow. So sorry to hear about the oncotype - when do you start the chemo? I am cheering for you from Philly. Will let you know when I get my oncotype back. Stay positive - you have been a brave warrior already and you've got this too.
