so, I was "just diagnosed" 8 weeks ago. I am writing now to say that these boards have kept me sane throughout the initial process of making my game plan. I am 57 and married for 28 years to my guy Andy and we have a 20, 16, and 15 year old. A routine mammogram found something that turned out to be ILC in my left breast. While doing the MRI to gather more information, they found two spots in my right breast, one of which turned out to be IDC. As I had genetic testing and MRI guided biopsies and second opinions, the words shared here by people who had lived through every conceivable combination of cancer and treatment saved me. I write to say thank you to everyone who shared a kind word or a difficult story as they are all part of the message for someone. Choosing the right doctors is so critical and this group really helped me prepare for those visits.

For me, I am happy to report that on September 27th, I had BMX with free flap reconstruction and am at home resting. Have had 3 of 4 drains removed and hope the last one comes out tomorrow. Still waiting on oncotype Dx testing yet nodes were 0/3. Both tumors around a centimeter and stage I seems to he holding as the diagnosis.

So, to each of you I say thank you as I went from very scared, to very informed, to fierce warrior and survivor. This is my first post yet I feeL sure that it will not be my last.

Glad to hear that your surgery went as planned. Hope you are resting comfortably, and that your recovery is relatively easy. Stage 1 and no nodes is great news! Hope you get your oncotype results soon and that they say "NO CHEMO." ((Hugs!))
