I have an appointment in early January to see a genetic specialist. Do any of you that have gone to one know what kind of information that they need ( I guess I want to be fully prepared).
Any kind of info will be helpful..
Thank you

Hi Sherri. I went to a Dr. Johnson in a building acoss from Foothills. They ask health issues of any blood family members you have. For instance, where was my mother's breast cancer, nodes involved etc. They draw a detailed genetic outline of your family. He suggested to me to have my ovaries out, which I did. The surprising part is I went in September '04 and still do not have the results. They said the final tests will be back in January. They come quicker if you pay for them yourself, but I am not in a hurry ... mostly interested in passing on whatever information I can to my daughter. The actual test is a simple blood vial ... very easy. Hope this helps.

I went to a genetic counselor in the USA and was given a questionaire before my appt. I had to outline "my family" tree which consisted of parents, siblings and first cousins. I had to indicate which ones had cancer, what type and what age.
