How in the #&$%* did your Boss have access to your medical reports and have permission to send to some pebble who 'works' somewhere? I'd be seeking legal (attorney) advise immediately!

Only your Drs can educate you about what is going on and next steps to handle what has to be handled. Don't jump out or the pot into the fire until you actually have been able to get answers from your Dr!

Tam007 - it is horrible that you are in this situation, but you have to wait and speak to your doctor and get the TRUTH.

Someone telling someone something doesn't count! It would be wise to take someone you trust to the appointment -

I went alone and your brain goes numb. In any event, take a notepad and paper.

It gets better after you have a treatment plan in place. Unfortunately, hearing whatever you heard doesn't help at all.

I only believe things from the doctors' mouths. Sending all the best!

wow, they had NO right to do that. Just how many reports has she seen to say yours is the worse. My report was 17 pages. Please get the facts from your oncologist. I am very sorry you have breast cancer

    tam,

If you need a ride to your appt, contact your American cancer society

(if you are in the states), or a social worker at your medical facility to help you with finances and resources with whatever help you need. I am self-employed also and single, so I know the financial burden is real. Like others have said, don't jump the gun. Pls know that you are not alone. Best wishes.

First of all, I am very sorry that you had to join the club that no one wants to join. But, you are in a great place. All of the peeps here are always gracious enough to pay it forward and as you can see you'll get unwavering support! I totally agree with all of the posts here. Your boss had no right to send your paperwork off and definitely no right to say that your case is the worst ever. Run, don't walk, to your doctor and get a treatment plan in place. You will feel better once you know what the plan is. Some peeps go to the breast surgeon first while others go to the oncologist first. Talk with the doctor who diagnosed you and see what he/she recommends. I'm not going to lie; this part is scary but you can do it (I promise you). Come here often to ask questions, vent, whatever. Sending you a hug!

I am sorry you had three friends bail on you. It's not Friday yet, so I hope you might still be able to get someone to go along with you. If not, try your best to stay clam and I agree with others that you should not only bring pen and paper (maybe even recorder) to take notes and get all the info. Be sure to jot down any questions you might have beforehand and do not be shy about asking them and if you do not understand the doctors reply, there is no shame in saying, "Please go over that part again" so that you have a real understanding. Breast Cancer usually involves cutting on your body and/or some serious treatments, therefore you deserve to have ALL your questions answered.

I took your opening statement to mean that your boss was trying to help get you info. in a roundabout way and not trying to breach your privacy. It would be great to have a boss as an ally as you go through this, but as far as getting second hand info. that you are "worst case"...don't even go there! The real worst case scenario is to get in a horrible panic over an unofficial and perhaps unqualified diagnosis. Even advanced cancers are able to be treated in a variety of ways. Come Friday, I believe you will hear what options you have. It's o.k. to ask if you have a little time to think things over if things seem to be happening too fast. I hope you get a doctor who communicates well and one you feel comfortable with. That can go a long way to easing your anxiety. Best of Luck on Friday. Let us know.

I was diagnosed the 4th also ... or was it the 5th. Geez. Time runs together.

That was a terrible thing for her to say. There is no worst type. There are statistics, and many are from years ago and include all sorts of things that may not apply to you. I have what some call a "bad" type ("triple negative"), but I have about 10 positives to fight that back. :)

I hope someone went with you to your appointment. Who bails like that? I think you need some new friends. Heck--I'd take you if I lived in your town. Check back in!
