I'm so scared, every time my phone rings my stomach cringes. I was dx in 2009 with BC. On the Tuesday following Labor day I felt a lump under my arm on the same side of my previous dx. I called my oncologist scheduled an appointment and its been a ride since then. I have a ct scan which showed the cancer has not spread, I had a full body bone scan which also shows no signs of cancer spreading. I had blood work which all came back very well according to nurse. They just called me and want to set up an MRI so they have a clear view of the issue going on. I'm so scared what does this mean? can I have been wrongfully re-diagnosed? is it worst than what they're saying?

Dee, we're so sorry you're here and scared, but you've come to the best place for support!

Were you officially diagnosed with a second or recurrent cancer? Or, do they not yet know what your lump under the arm is? If you haven't yet been diagnosed with a new or recurrent cancer, there's still a good chance this is nothing to worry about! Chances are they want to do an MRI just to have a more certain answer as to what is going on.

Please keep us posted with the information you learn, and feel free to continue to ask questions. We're all here for you!

They are probably just being on the safe side to check thoroughly.

When I was DXd in 2009, I had a full body CT and MRI with contrast, a full body bone scan, a PET. The PET 'lit up' on an area along my lower jaw so there was a biopsy done of the area that afternoon - nothing there. My pointt in telling you that is that just because 'something' might 'show' on a scan does not automatically mean that there is a problem but often just an area that needs to be checked out. Probably just being thorough.

What type BC were you TXd for back in '09? Did your biopsy of the new area show that the current is a recurrence or a second type?

My lymph nodes swell up when I have an infection—even a canker sore or a bad zit. They used to swell before my periods. Take a deep breath, keep calm & carry on.
