Can anyone clarify "width, depth, length" measurements for me?
On a mamo and/or u/s report, if the results are:
1.5 x 3.2 x 1.3 cm are those dimensions to be read as "length, then width, then height"? Are measurements standardized on diagnostic tests? I ask because I read that "taller is worse than X". I have no idea what measurement in that example would be taller. Obviously, I failed math! Seriously, I am a bookkeeper but I am not good at measurements! How does one find out depth? From the doctor for me anyway ; ).
Thanks in advance.

I wish I could edit the title.....what order do Mamo and U/S measurements go in? I am driving my husband nuts. He says it is width x length x height.
-
Taller than wide is what they say is bad. I believe the measurements are length x width x height. I'm sure others will be along soon to confirm. Good luck.
-
My report says mine measures 1.8 x 1.9 x 1.7 cm. This is taller than it is wide.
So the depth or length, if that is the taller part, has to be the 1st or second measurement. The width has to be the first or last. Don't think that helps...just confuses it more.

Thank you Debiann, you have no idea how relieved your post makes me feel. If that is the case (and I am prepping for worst and hoping for best!).....if that is the case, I will sleep tonight with the help of Mr. Valium.
All the best to you.
I love your siggy "I live knowing it will be ok when I am not" - beautiful.
You are in my thoughts Debiann.
Kind regards,

HI Leslie, thanks for your reply! Thanks for sharing too! It's confusing and by the time 3 pm Monday rolls around it won't matter - 18 hours to go. Once I know, I will be fine. It's been a pleasure being back here and catching up on the lighter side.
I wish you a speedy recovery on your upcoming lumpectomy! That will be my first choice if available - I don't think I can tolerate the pain I watched my friend endure with double mx. Ok, enuf forecasting for 1 day and many thanks for indulging my questions.
Kind regards,
KTF Marie

Did they give you a bi-rads score?
The waiting is the hardest part. Do you get biopsy results tommorow? Prayers for benign.
-
Hi Debiann, yes, it is Bi Rads 4 and it's about those dimensions (my brain won't memorize it right now).
I get results tomorrow at 3 pm EST US.
Thank you for your prayers.

birads 4 is cancerous 23-34% of the time, so you have a good chance for benign. I didn't get a birads score. Radiologist declared it was cancer from the ultrasound. Of course I had the biopsy too, but sometimes it is just that evident. Yours is not. That's good.

Hi Debiann! Thanks for an awesome reply. You also answered another question that has been rolling around in my head which was can the radiologist tell prior to the actual bx and you answered that for which I am grateful! Debiann "Radiologist declared it was cancer from the ultrasound. ".
Debiann, I am sorry for your diagnosis and I see you have been dealing with this for almost 3 years now. All my prayers and best wishes. I am familiar with some of the medications in your protocol you are on via my friend's diagnosis and she is still going strong 6 plus years later. It's a real b*tch and it pains me that you had any pain whatsoever.
Thanks for your great response!
KTF M
