Group of Microcalcifications on 3D mammo
Hi i just got back my results from my yearly mammo.
It says group of micro calcifications in upper outs quadrant that needs additional evaluation. B1-rads calcification 0. Previous two mammograms have never noticed these. First time doing 3D.
I will be having a diagnostic 3d and then an ultrasound tomorrow.
Are all micro calcification beginning BC? Should I be worried this is the first time they have been seen? All that has ever been seen in my breast before are cysts.
Thanks.

No, all microcalcs are not the start of cancer. Most aren't. We almost all develop some as we age. It is only when the present in certain patterns that they can be suspicious for a possible underlying cancer. At this point all they are doing is trying to get a better look, perhaps because the regular mammogram was suboptimal due to breast density. Hope the 3d clears things up and they send you on your way.

Thank Melissa. I was hoping you would respond.
When I went today to schedule, the lady said "oh Im sorry." I asked for what? She said that I had screening mammo with 3D. If calcifications is found there, then it always means cancer as it sees better then an U/s.
Freaked me out.

I have scattered calcifications, which are not concerning.. I also had a small cluster that was biopsed. The cluster turned out to be within an area of benign sclerosing adenosis, which is what looked suspicious on the imaging. There was also a tiny area of LCIS within it. Still, not cancer

Yes, the report does say I have dense breasts. I worry as this was not seen in last years mammo.

HI there, I am new to this forum. And I hope, I don't sound silly as some folk are much worse off. I had my second mamogran and it said that I had 'moderately dense breasts' I did not have any further investigations, I have done so much googling now that I am so worried that mamogram did not detect anything bad? Again sorry if this sounds silly questions. But I wonder what does moderately mean (I know the meaning) but in breast terms, i.e. really dense, slightly or ??? thanks again ladies.

Hi Ann-Jane,
Welcome to the bco discussion boards.
Sorry to hear that you've been having some breast concerns recently.
While you wait for others to chime in, here's a link to some information on our main site about dense breasts. It may not completely answer your question but we hope it's of some help.
Wishing you well,
The Moderators.

Can a Biopsy two years ago lead to micro calcifications?
-
Just came back from the diagnostic mammo and u/s. The Doctor said the calcifications were borderline. Nothing screaming bad, but nothing clearing them for the good side either.
I had recently moved and have been trying over week to get my reports and films sent to the new place. The Doctor says that she needs to see those, otherwise she recommends biopsy. She says if this was my first mammo she would go straight to biopsy, but with a prior she really wants to see if these were on them and what they looked like.
My mammo report from 2015 says :
Right breast: There is an ovoid mass in the upper outer quadrant. Benign-appearing calcifications are present.
But I was never told and nothing was ever made of them.
These new one says: There is a group of
microcalcifications in the upper outer quadrant of the right breast that
requires additional evaluation.
Are these the same? Any thoughts?
