Natural progesterone use effective
has anyone here tried natural (not synthetic) progesterone to fight of estrogen and reoccurrence? I was told by my naturopath that it is highly recommended and here is a link to an article about it. Any thoughts or experience? Thank you!!

I had read that it was a good thing to take in an article I had read recently, to take for energy and to just generally make a woman feel better, and to make bones stronger, and hair thicker, and to build muscles faster. I had even found a gynecologist here in LA that does prescribe it to ca survivors. I will see if I can find it again. Are you thinking about it? I did respond to your post before I read it, so off to read it now.

Not sure I would trust that site as most of the information seems very old

There's a study that recently came out about this. It's in my outline to discuss with my dr: Hisham Mohammed, et al., Progesterone Receptor Modulates Era Action in Breast Cancer, 523 Nature 7560, (Aug. 2015).
I would love to try this, but Idk if my MO would go for it. I've been thinking about switching to a different MO that I clicked with wonderfully when I was in the hospital - same hospital, so I'd just be moving over to a different dr. The dr I have now is a man, and I just have trouble talking to him about certain subjects. Also, I don't feel like he listens to some of my concerns.

tomboy, it is old, but still remains a lot of good facts that are still talked about out there. This is what Suzanne somers talked about as well. My naturopath said it will strengthen my bones and protect me from reoccurrence. I'm so tired of Arimidex and it's effects..Still, scares me to take the risk. I don't think my MO would approve. But they never do with naturopaths..
Frill, def good to have an MO that will listen and help. I love mine but I don't think she will go for it. I'm afraid to risk it, although sounds promising.
I was hoping there were some out there that could confirm trying it and saying yes it is good!!

Since my tumor cells were PR+, I would be more than just nervous about ingesting extra progesterone.

I just saw a naturopathic MD today, and left with some Progesterone (bioidentical). I've read several articles, as well as the physicians statements in Suzanne Somer's book, about the benefits of this. It is frightening, like every decision I've had to make in this process.

kayMc1, thank you for posting!! What did your naturopath think? Mine insists it's beneficial. Suzanne somers had it as well, not sure if still does? It scares me too.. It's risky, but then again it has proven to wor

My naturopathic Doctor suggested I take Soy isoflavones to help with side effects of Aromastase Inhibitors almost two years ago......I resisted, she recommended it strongly again this year along with having the RGCC tests against my own blood cáncer cells......soy isoflavones were one of the things tested and to my amazement they came out as having a very definite anti cáncer effect for me so I started taking them and have to say I do feel a lot more comfortable in my feminine áreas and a lot less creaky.
I don´t think I would take progesterone without testing for it on my own blood and cáncer. Isoflavones were a real inner battle for me and I avoid soy products in food as they have a different impact on your body.. but I do feel a lot less aged by the AI pills

Lily55, that is very interesting.. I had no idea you can get blood tested to check that? What exactly is Soy isoflavones? I'm going to have to look it up. Did your MO agree/approve? Yes the progesterone gets me nervous but I will look into the testing first.
