Ladies,

I finished expansion about a month ago and now have been told I have capsular Contracture on the left side. The plastic surgeon and his resident seemed so indifferent about it, like no big deal, we'll take care of it during the exchange. But now I'm reading that I will be at high risk for this to happen again. Ugh.

I'm also confused because the whole summer my left side seemed bigger, harder, and higher than the right. I asked questions about it almost weekly until I was convinced that the TE stage leaves you with a wierd looking chest until the exchange.

Anyway anyone out there with the same problem? Why does capsular contracture happen? Can I avoid it with my permanent implants during the exchange? What are your PSs saying?

Thanks!

Hi there. I developed CC a few months after my last exchange. It's in the same breast that also had an infection and required surgical removal of my implant. So this particular side has had more than one implant. I am having surgery in December to replace yet again and get rid of the contracture. PS says there is a risk I'll get it again but we'll see if we can prevent by using Singulair and massage. CC is really miserable and my implants generally feel uncomfortable. While I'm in surgery, we're going to try to fix rippling on the opposite side with fat grafting. I've had a lot of surgeries since my BMX and it's gotten very old.

Hi back at you marketing mama! Sorry you have been dealing with complications for so long. Interesting about Singulair. I hope that does the trick for you! I am going to ask about it. I had read insurance might not cover it though. We shall see.
