Hello

I've been told I will have chemo before surgery. ER-PR- Her2+. I have to work need my benefits and my income is needed to keep our house afloat.

I'm probably going to start chemo this month BS said chemo once every 3 weeks for 4 to 6 months..scared out of my mind.

Is anyone else working during treatment.

Thank you!

I worked the whole time other than the Thursday I had infusion and the day after. I just had my last chemo on 9/1. I know it's scary but for me nothing was as bad as I imagined. It was no fun but doable.Hang in there.

I'm working. Had my first infusion Thursday 9/1 and worked the next day then had a three day weekend for Labor Day. Worked on the Tuesday but was tired. Next infusion is 9/22 and I'm taking Friday Monday and maybe Tuesday off. I felt a bit queasy and dizzy that first week in the morning and felt fine in afternoon. The second week I was just fine.w

    Wishing you well!

I did 4 rounds of TC between this past July and September. I worked full time, and took off for my infusion day (a Tuesday), and then the Friday of that week when side effects kicked in. I also came in late and left early as needed. It helped that my boss was very understanding. I don't punch a time clock, and this also helped, because my boss did not dock me an hour worth of pay if I needed to leave early etc. My HR director also accepted a single note from my MO to cover any and all chemo related absences during this time period. I cold capped and kept my hair, so as a result I have not fully come out to my co-workers. This was the biggest "issue" - deciding whether to be "out" or not. I had friends who swore that it would hurt my career if everyone knew. I suppose I have liked coming out in stages. In the beginning it is so overwhelming to tell people. I wish you the best, and hope that your workplace is as supportive as mine!
