Starting Chemo March 2016

Pam,
It's definitely a difficult time and it's not easy to always stay positive - and you definitely don't have to be positive all the time! This is such a traumatic thing to deal with.
I'm so glad you are nearing the end of taxol. I have my final taxotere this coming Friday and I got thrush with each treatment of it. And I too lost all my eyebrows and lashes as well as fatigue, nail issues, and aches and pains in shoulders and legs. I think taxol and taxotere are in the same drug family (taxane) and are quite similar .My MO asked me if I had to choose one chemo over the other which I would pick and I said the FEC. I would take the nausea over the thrush and taste changes for sure!
When is your surgery? Mine is booked for Sept 7th, and I am looking forward to a little break too and feeling almost "normal" for a little bit!
I'll be thinking of you and hoping your last treatment goes as well as it can, you are nearing the end of this and will be moving forward soon. As my surgeon said of finishing chemo soon, it's nice that you did the hard part first. That felt encouraging to me anyway! Take care!

HolaSandy,
You are now post surgery? Hope it is going well. I took vacation after chemo went to mountains for some cool air and mental refreshment. I am scheduled for surgery the 19th September if I pass retest on bloodwork tomorrow. Fingers crossed. They are doing bilateral mastectomy w/ lymph dissection as we know I have positive for cancer. I will be laid up but hope to converse more on forum.

Pam,
I'm now just over 1 week post surgery. All went well and I should get pathology on October 20th. I had unilateral modified radical mastectomy. They removed 5-6 lymph nodes as well as I had 1 positive at biopsy. I'll be having the other breast removed when I get my reconstruction surgery in a few months. The pain has been pretty minimal and I'm very satisfied with my decision for Mx instead of lumpectomy.
Hoping you are feeling well and that your surgery goes great! Take care.

I just wanted to pop in here and see how you ladies who aren't in the Facebook group are doing? How are you feeling and how have you progressed? Thinking of all of you

Aw, thanks for checking in on us HolaSandy!
I'm glad chemo is over and done with. Hopefully will never be doing that again, ever!!!
Surgery is over and done with, too. Recovering magnificently.
I had really good news, too: complete response to chemo.
Doesn't get me out of radiation, but does reduce the number of treatments. (My team is throwing everything they possibly can at this.

oh BlueKoala!
I'm so glad to hear you're doing well and had a complete response! I hope radiation flies by for you and this will all soon be in your rear view mirror. Take care!!

Dear HolaSandy,
Mine uh not so good. My cancer doesn't respond well to chemo, as my surgery showed. Had 5.2cm, 1.3cm and 1.1cm removed. 3/17 nodes macromestatic and one margin positive. Recovery going slow as well, but I'm hanging in here. Lots of well wishes to you all.
