Best time to take supplements

I thought here we could share what we know to be the best time and approach to taking supplements for better absorption and effectiveness and also their interactions with our common drugs and each other. I keep hearing conflicting things and their synergy is even more confusing, so any backup research for us geeks would be welcome!

Here is some stuff I found, though can't validate their credibility.

Hi Erento, I can't claim to have any expert knowledge but I have read more than once that the best time to take supplements is with your biggest meal. Your largest meal is the most likely to include things like fat, protein, etc. which are necessary to absorb many nutrients in supplements. There are a few that this does not apply to but I can't remember what they are.

I subscribe to Consumers Lab which has the most reliable info and data on virtually all supplements and is used by the FDA and many American ;hospitals, physicians, etc. They are completely independent, do their own testing and have no links to any supplement manufacturers.

    Cheers Anne

Thanks for posting that. It can get complex. For instance, if you take bromelain as a digestive enzyme, it is of course best taken before a meal. However if you take it for other reasons, such as an anti-inflammatory, then it needs to be taken on an empty stomach and given time to absorb into the blood stream.
