"It has a blood supply!"

We've been watching a mass since last September and I had another follow up mammo and US Monday. The radiologist came in and pronounced that the mass had grow 2mm (from 17 to 19) and showed me that it had a blood supply. She ordered a needle core biopsy, which was yesterday. Now, I'm wondering if the fact that it has a blood supply (she said that like it meant something bad, although I have no clue) means it is definitely cancer. At the biopsy yesterday, I asked her about it and she said if she knew it was cancer, she would have told me, but that is why we did the biopsy...it grew and changed since March. I lost my mom to cancer 6 months ago and my sister was diagnosed 3 weeks ago with IDC...so this is all very fresh and very scary for me. Just like everybody else, I guess. The waiting is torture and of course, my mind goes directly to the worst possible places. I need some comforting words! I expect a phone call from mygynecologist tomorrow or Monday, so at least the wait is a short one, but its terrifying.

    Hi texiss-

We know the waiting is so, so hard. And we're so sorry for the loss of your mother and your sister's recent diagnosis, we can imagine this all just adds to your fear and anxiety. We hope you hear back from your doctor tomorrow, so you don't have to continue waiting through the weekend! Please keep us posted when you hear anything!

Just got the call...reactive fibrosis. Benign. Not precancerous. Thank you so much...this board and the kind words you all share with others are/were a great comfort during the intolerable wait.

Given your family history, you may wish to speak to your doctor about genetic testing.
