Vaginal bleeding after biopsy

I am very thankful I found this forum. Yesterday I had a biopsy after having a mammogram and sonogram that was suspicious. It was a birad 4. I had clusters of calcifications and have also had some nipple discharge. I have also had some pain. Of course I am scared and this waiting epecially over the weekend is the worst! I am 37 years old and have stuggled with health issues for several years now (fibro and thyroid issues) but this is the first cancer scare.

My question is....this morning I started bleeding. Like a period but I am about two weeks away from when I should start. It hasn't been heavy but a little more than just spotting. Has anyone else experienced this after a biopsy? Has it just shocked my system or is there more I should be concerned about? I have googled it and really don't see that this is a side effect from a breast biopsy.

I am a huge ball of a mess just anxious about everything right now. I have a three year old and a 10 year old and I just start crying everytime I think about them.

Thank you for reading this and any advice or help you may have.

Thank you!

Hi Mtam0805. We wanted to send you a warm welcome to the BCO Forums. We're sorry you didn't get any real answers yet, but hopefully this post will bump your thread so more members will see it and you have a better chance of a reply. In the meantime you may want to read the article What Mammograms Show: Calcifications, Cysts, Fibroadenomas, from the main Breastcancer.org site describes some of the benign results that can come from testing. It's not always cancer!

Please keep us informed on how you're doing and on your biopsy results, we're thinking of you!

thank you for your reply. Unfortunately my biopsy did not come back good. I do have cancer. IDC with some DCIS. I had a MRI today to try and tell more info on how much is invasive. Very overwhelmed and scared right now. I am 37 with a 3 year old and 10 year old.

Mtam0805, I'm so sorry you got a cancer diagnosis. Our first thought is for our children, right? Please don't assume the worst. Take a deep breath and let the doctors figure out exactly what you are dealing with and give you a treatment plan. You are young. Can you go to a NCI designated cancer center or a university teaching hospital, if you are not already there?

I suggest you post in the IDC and/or Just Diagnosed forums. You will find a lot of support.
