Scheduled date for sorgery

can anyone tell me how long surgery will last. I'm scheduled for surgery on October 4th. I am having my left breast removed and an implant put in. What is the process. Is this an all day process?. I'm so anxious and nervous.

    Wish I could answer. I had mine done in two parts. The double mastectomy took a little over 4 hours and I spent two nights in the hospital. The exchange only took an hour and a half but it was outpatient.

    Hello,

    I had single mastectomy with tissue expander placement on 5/20/16. I went to surgery at 7:00 AM. My surgery was finished a little after 12:00 PM. I had 2 lymph nodes removed. I think the length of surgery depends also of how many lymph nodes your surgeon will have to remove. I was lucky that my sentinel lymph node was negative. I was able to walk on the hallway around 6:00 PM. I left the hospital the very next morning at 9:00 AM. Again, I was lucky and I didn't need anything for pain besides Motrin. It wasn't as bad as I imagined...Good luck with your surgery.

    I only had one lymph node removed. I am impressed that you were able to get by without heavy pain meds. I needed oxy for a little over a week. The early part of recovery was tough for me. I couldn't lift my arms without them shaking.

    Mine took about 2 1/2 hours. For me the thought of surgery was much worse than the actuality of it.
