Gosh Scottie, I am glad you guys are okay! How scary, scary, scary!!! Let us know how DD does with her neck.
Dance Attack was very fun......you dance for an hour & go home......today I walked to a football game & back home (don't be particularly impressed as it was a distance of 1.5 miles total). I did 45 minutes of toning with Denise Austin just so I could log on here!
I'm so sorry about the troubles with you mom, Karen. Becoming the caretaker of a parent is such a stressful time for all involved. I've been there, and now some cousins are going through the same thing with their parents.......hard, hard, hard.
Heidi, I like the 'eat more if you have a cold' theory (TwoHobbies, your excuse to eat!). Maybe if the rest of us eat enough, er won't even GET a cold in the first place?
I have been eating like crazy all week too; which I blame on the Minnesota Twins (ballpark food) and the Minnesota State Fair (everything on a stick). That darn state of Minnesota is bad for the diet!
-
OMGosh Scottie, how scary! Glad their injuries were minor.
Restorative day. 30 min walk this afternoon and a nice long nap.
-
Scottie, how scary, glad they weren't hurt too badly...and what a mean boss!
Badger, I haven't been able to cry for several years....It just slays me as I think if I could cry I would be better off!!!
-
My gosh Scottie how awful, glad they are okay and hopeful that your DD only has soft tissue injury and what a crud of a boss, they sure show their true colors in time of a crisis.
Karen I am so sorry about your Mom, caregiving is so draining remember to be kind to yourself.
Heidi I can always remember my Mum saying 'feed a cold, starve a fever' those old wives tales are surprisingly accurate.
TH I'm hoping that I get invited to lots of Christmas functions otherwise I'll be at the grocery store in my finery.
Well today went to a Les Mills mini q, so did CX Works, Body Combat and Body Flow and did the master class of Body Flow last night as well, LB I think she said it was 74 and I can say I sweated like crazy in it and because she knew my limitations she talked me through the low options, I am knackered unfortunately I put my sheets in the wash before I left home this morning so I need to go make my bed, ughhhhh.
-
Cheryl, that was 74 if you sweated, because I do the same; it's intense, no doubt about it. It does need to be taught using a dial up and down with options through teaching each track. Yup, to you and Ruth about son staying in the UK for uni and let's hope he gets in, very hard here now as the bar is set high. Scottie, glad everyone is safe and Kaption. beautiful sunset on your long walk- well done. Karen hang in there, not easy and HeidiHill, it is a super bootcamp and I'd love to have someone cook clean, healthy meals and feed me for a week, lol. Yesterday was teaching my weekly early Saturday BB class , then in the afternoon, thoroughly enjoyed attending a 3 hour tai chi workshop with tai chi & qigong master Joe Lok. Joe is quite a character and excellent instructor.
I'll spend the afternoon today in the gym studio practicing #74.

Slow start to this morning after yesterday's Lopez Island adventure. I have decided that unless high summer, much more suited to an overnight than a day trip. I caught the 2:40 ferry back which means that I only did about 20 miles of cycling. Country roads and the scenery is just spectacular.
A couple of pix to share. This is Port Stanley, a short ride from the ferry.
Beach roses looking west. Just a glorious day.
View towards Fisherman's Bay and Lopez Village. One place where it really is still a "village". Lots of local boutique farming, and wonderful local eats. Burger I had was local meat, on a locally-baked bun made from grain raised on the island. Fresh tomatoes and local pickles. Amazingly, I passed up the ice cream!!! I sampled goat cheese and locally-made jams. Came home with blackberry-plum.
One more of the mud flats. Just so calming, and I hadn't really been to a beach this summer.
-
Lovely, Claire!
Just got done with 45 minutes pilates DVD.
-
Great pix Claire! Enjoy NYC - hope you get in some fun amid the work.
Picture-perfect day. Need something from the grocery store so will walk there & back.
-
There is a 9/11 memorial service downtown this afternoon starting at 1:00pm. John Fogarty is playing with a local band. There will also be tributes. Part of me wants to go, another part says no. My husband is leaving around 2 this afternoon for an overnight trip and I kind of want to be home till he leaves. Will let you know later if I went or not. Just not sure I want to deal with crowds...
The weather here is also picture perfect!!!
-
Nice pics Claire. Volunteer work this evening so may just get out for a walk around the neighborhood to feed fitbit just a little.
Later sculpted friends.
-
1.35 miles up and 1.35 miles back. Logging 12.5 miles for the week.
-
Volunteer shift cancelled out of respect for 9/11 remembrances. Did mysunshine's 5-mile Leslie Sansone class and it felt good. Needed my shot of exercise as I've been going through withdrawal not being as active as I had been. Have to get back to that.
Night sculpted friends.

I ended up going to the 9/11 Memorial, but it started at 1:00 and I didn't get there till 2:00 so I missed the speeches and memorial part. I stayed for part of the concert but left before it was done. There were 2 fire trucks there with ladders raised with flags and I think a piece of one of the towers on a flat bed truck that soldiers were guarding. Took a couple pictures with my phone but there aren't the best angle to see both trucks and the flat bed truck, well wth the flag draped over it you can't really tell what it is.
Its late, so I best crawl into bed....MY alarm is set to go off in just over 5 hours....but I'm sure I'll turn it off and roll over for "just a couple more minutes". As long as I get my walk in, I'm okay...Have to leave a 7:00 for a 7:30 meeting.
-
At the gym feeding the Fitbits. Another long week in store and possibly work this weekend.
Scottie

Work is so crazy....travelling between schools...not getting my walks in...don't even have time to do my paperwork!!! But I like what I am doing!!
-
I did my first sub gig of the school year, 7th grade science. Nice kids, very fun to be back in the energic school environment, and lots of work too! Zumba & yoga tonight......sandwiches for dinner!
-
Good for you, Ruth, for getting back to school! I bet you will be in demand!
My exercise has been minimal until after radiation.
You all do inspire me though!
-
Hi All! Back to world of wifi and TV for a few days! Service to be turned on at the Lake on Thursday which I will be very happy about. Been doing lots of cleaning (so over it!) and some walking.
Pilates today Tomorrow my first day of volunteer work at the elementary school looking forward to seeing the kids.
I have been eating awful lately and must get myself under control! It's comforting that I am not the only one! I swear peanut m&ms call me from where ever they are! I have been obsessed with them!
Scottiesmom glad everyone is ok how scary
-
Yesterday did Body Pump and 30 minutes of Body Step and today did Cardio Dance Party ditto me on the awful eating, I do meal prep and then I get sick of eating the same thing day after day so I go off the rails and I have a vegetable drawer full of veggies but I'd rather eat a pizza!!!
-
Veggie Pizza!
-
Class this morning (Zumba & weights today), dognapped the grandpuppy for a walk (DS was working late & I felt sorry for her......yes, I am a push over!), went to a totally lovely restorative yoga class tonight.
If you get a chance, check out the Sept. 12th issue of Time Magazine. The cover story is entitled The Exercise Cure. Here is the first paragraph of the article: "Doctors, researchers, scientists-even ancient philosophers- have long claimed exercise works like a miracle drug. Now they have proof."
-
PlanB, I can resist peanut M&Ms but not pretzel M&Ms. Sweet & salty with a crunch. mmm
7th inning stretch inside yest & today as raining and not warm. Loving these cooler temps. :-)
-
Ruth, I saw that magazine cover. I need to get that issue. Promising that after rads (and recovery from rads) I'll get back to it. I truly miss yoga and strenuous outdoor walking.
I did put together about 2+ miles today with some shopping and a nice slow walk around our blood circulation tonight.
-
Beautiful sky for my 1.5 mile walk this evening!
-
i've been AWOL again for too long. Registered for the local turkey rot 5k run tonight. Registration prior to Sept 15 includes a 10 week train to trot program so hoping to get back in the fitness habit again. Welcome to the newer ladies!
Luv y'all!
-
Hey Lisa! Was just thinking about you. Must have been the sweet & salty M&Ms reference.
-
Hey Lisa I was just thinking of you, good to see you Beautiful sky Logang. Need to look out for that magazine Ruth, as for veggie pizza what a good idea - I really need help for my bad eating habit for dinner tonight I had a small container of coconut gelato cause I couldn't be bothered cooking
Tonight did U Jam class.
-
Fisher boat on Lake Zurich. Uploading from my phone. Hope it works. I was inspired running around the reservoir in NYC to run along the lake here. I've done it a few times now and love it.
Salsa last night and Tango tonight.
Welcome back, sweet.

Hi, everyone. I have been a lurker here, but am finally ready to join the group. I have about 50 pound to lose in order to be at a healthy, happy weight for me and about 20 pounds to lose in order to be eligible for my reconstructive surgery. I am motivated for sure! Walking is my favorite form of exercise. My honey bought me a treadmill in July and I have been using it regularly since then. Since my PS consult, I've upped my daily goals and am sticking to them. My goal is to walk 15 minutes on my morning break at work and another 30-45 minutes in the evening. Reading this thread has inspired me to start logging those miles, so I will begin that today.
Happy to be here.
