Celebrity Shannon Doherty
I know this will come off as snarky to some. But I see photos of Shannon Doherty walking the carpet at Stand Up to Cancer yesterday. She's been diagnosed with breast cancer and finishing up chemo.
She has a scarf on her head, but I'm noticing she still has eyebrows. Now I know she's got some brow powder in there, but the brows are thick and the pictures seem to show some of those brows are hers
When I had chemo, I lost my brows and they never came back quite as full as before. I lost the hair all over my body, brows, eyelashes which also never grew back so great, and elsewhere not just my head. Yes, I have a case of brow envy, I admit.
Anyway, I was wondering if others who've had chemo still kept the other hair on their body? Can chemo really be that specific.
Please know I do not wish bc on my worst enemy, and I wish all the best to Shannon

I only lost hair on head. Do you think she is faking having cancer? Not sure what you mean.

Divine- I noticed that as well..my brows are seemingly never going to be the same. Ended chemo last Sept...Herceptin end of May. Hair on head growing in curly- wash and wear- which is nice...thinner but ok...eyebrows and eyelashes..not so great. I wondered about SDoherty- but as you said...wouldn't wish BC on my worst enemy...just wonder what she did...her brows look great! I want that look!

I have finished my 4 AC treatments. I still have thick eyebrows, top eyelashes, sparse bottom lashes and thin head hair. I still have 4 taxol plus Herceptin to go so may lose more then
-
Not to be snarky either but I saw an interview she did on TV where she was very vague about what stage Cancer she had. Himmed and hawed then said she "didn't know for sure cause she didn't want to know". Seen some very dramatic pictures that she put out there too. No doubt she has Cancer but ...

Well, our responses show the differences in treatment and responses. Be well, all!

Well, she posted photos when she cut/shaved her hair off and I'm not sure if that was before even getting chemo or during. I cut my hair short, then about day 17 after starting chemo, it was coming out in clumps, so dh shaved it.
But wren and xxy, I am glad to hear that you kept your brows. I didn't know that was possible so that's why I asked.
I'm not a Shannon fan because she came across as something of a brat in her younger celebrity days. She always seemed to have the dramatic side. But like I said, I am sorry to learn of her bc. When it comes toHollywood, you don't know what they trump up and it's all about appearance.

I did AC plus taxol. My brows and lashes did not fall out until AFTER I finished taxol. Hair was gone within 2 weeks of starting AC. I counted myself lucky that the brows and lashes hung around that long. When done taxol I had some fuzz on my head growing but VERY thin brows and lashes were gone.

I had 5 rounds of TC and lost about 1/3 of my hair because I used Penguin Cold Caps however I never lost eyebrows or eyelashes although they thinned. I never thought about until now but my eyebrows have suffered and I think I can blame it on chemo.

I lost my hair everywhere but on my legs. I thought it was a major cheat that I had to shave my legs that summer.
So it does happen. Or it's possible that the eyebrows are fake.
-
I still had some eyebrows while on Taxotere. They were thin but I had them. No hair anywhere else though.
-
When I was stage 3, I kept my brows and lashes with AC chemo but lost all but 5 or 6 lashes and most but not all of my brows on the taxol part. Also, during the AC chemo part, during a family birthday party for my daughter, no less, my mother loudly questioned why I lost all the hair on my head but not my neck (thanks, mom, lol) so I guess I kept some there, too!
Also, though, if you look at some of the close up interview photos like this one http://img2-3.timeinc.net/people/i/2016/news/160725/shannen-doherty-02-800.jpg it looks like the brows are mostly or totally drawn on, so I think I'm going with kayb and expect she probably had some good makeup artists creating the brows you're envying!
-
I never got the hair back on the top of my head after Taxotere. Not one brow either :-(
-
My brows thinned but they didn't disappear. I lost a lot of lashes but not all. Lashes have never grown back as long or as full. Lost NO body hair. Was looking forward to a reprieve from shaving legs but that didn't happen.
-
My brows were fine the first time around, by the time I lost my hair for the 4th time, they were gone.
And those folks have access to all kinds of hair extenstions, tatoos, ect.
-
I kept my eyebrows and lashes during chemo. Lost every stitch of it on my head. Everywhere else it was still there but growth dramatically slowed down. So I know it's possible.
-
I didn't lose eyebrows/eyelashes until after I finished chemo. I follow her on instagram. She looks sick. And she is amazingly brave for posting the pictures that she does as I barely had the courage to let my husband see me bald. He had to sneak peeks at night when I was sleeping.
-
I didn't lose my eyebrows or eyelashes until after I had finished A/C. I was bald, but kept facial hair until then. But no...I lost it everywhere!
