I know this thread is a few years old, but if any of you are still around, I just wanted to say THANK YOU. I picked up my first bottle of Tamoxifen last week and have been putting off starting. My husband (he's a physician) and I decided I will start taking it this Friday night just in case there's any unusual immediate side effects so I can deal with them over the weekend. Fingers crossed...

Good Luck Miranda. I have been on it about 14 months and I have no SE's. I struggled with taking it too, but now I pop it in my mouth and thank it for taking care of business.....Here's hoping it's just as good for you :

I'm thankful for this post too. I picked up my rx for tamoxifen yesterday and was super scared to take it. I did. But I was really nervous. Like the original poster said, so often people talk about the negative side effects. We tend to talk about those that are not bothered so much less. I'm not expecting it to be a walk in the park, but happy to hear some people do relatively well on this drug.I needed to read this thread of posts today even if it is old.

I started tamoxifen about 5 weeks ago and no SE's! Absolutely nothing! The nurse at my MO's office said that hot flashes usually start around 3 weeks. I think the majority of people who don't have side effects just don't post anymore since they are off living their lives (no reminders of breast cancer daily). Good luck! I am sure you will be just fine! Hugs!

I've been on it for a year. I've had some SEs but all have been manageable.

It's been more than nine months. Aside from minimal symptoms of dryness, constipation and some insomnia - which may not even be because of tamoxifen - it has not been a problem. It may potentially improve my chances and it's Dr's orders. That may be naive, but that is why I take it.

I will start Tamoxifen in October. All the bad things I've read really make me nervous. So happy to read some good about it!
