    Hello Everyone!

I have been off of all technology since we have been at the new house! Love all the pictures and have finally caught up on all your adventures!

I have been golfing and walking for exercise and of course packing and unpacking! We have had a very warm welcome from our new neighbors and DD boyfriends family! Home for a couple of days and then back to the lake for a couple. Internet to be installed next week. I think we are going to be very happy thereimage

I had a dinner meeting and ate way too much! I ordered a Cobb salad and ate it all...now I'm miserable I've been doing good with not snacking and not grazing throughout the day and watching what I eat, but sure went overboard tonight! I've been done dinner for 3 hours and still feel too full. I make my lunch at night as I don't want to take the time in the morning, but can't even look at food!

Loving the cooler mornings but don't like it being dark. I like the long days of summer but not the heat

Wow PlanB absolutely gorgeous I'm sure you're going to be very happy there. Scottie change isn't easy but soon it will be the norm. Heidi New York would be a pretty expensive retirement city but loads of things to do and places to explore (and you'll need a spare room for all of your BCO friends to come visit you )

Well tonight I sat down before I went to the gym and woke up 3 hours later.... Took myself off to the Y and utilized my Les Mills "On Demand" streaming and did RPM

Mary, hope the AL's are not rearing up the SE's too badly and good going on the trail run. Nordic walking (poles) is quite the thing here, especially so in London of all places. Wonderful photos everyone. Cheryl, enjoyed our visit and son sitting last of exams today (school started Monday so no time for lollygagging) for predictive results for university applications. Applying a year out is so different than how the US system of college entrance works. This trip to see some California unis made him realize that staying here in the UK for undergraduate is what he would like and this mom is happy. Went to a Les Mills quarterly in London last Sunday to review/learn BB/Flow release #74 and quite a difference to current 73 with a fitness intensity that will have a few challenged, including me. HeidiHill, Mary, et al, received a flyer for a fitness mountain boot camp in the alps of Chamonix at the end of this month; take a look -- interesting: http://www.chamonixhardcross.com/?dm_i=18MI,4G80B,K5IX0R,GEN7I,1 and at a significant reduction http://i.emlfiles1.com/cmpdoc/4/3/8/7/5/files/392341_chx_lm_new_image.png?dm_i=18MI,4G80B,K5IX0R,GEN7H,1

I too am lamenting the end of summer with 9 months of dark gray skies, cold rain and some snow to look forward to, oh well, summer will return!

Finally getting to share pictures from my whirlwind trip to the Yakima Valley last Saturday-early Sunday. Why I try to get out there at least one weekend per year as such a special and magical spot. Vineyard is on Naches Heights which has its own unique AVA, as not on soil deposited by the Missoula Floods. (Worth looking up on Wikipedia as one of the great natural occurrences.) - Claire

On the seemingly endless stretch between Prosser (major wine center) and Mabton looking west. Note the clouds over the Cascades as it was raining in the Seattle area, just in time for the Bumbershoot Festival! Horse Heaven Hills to the left produce major amazing wine. But it's not all wine here. I had to stop for a truck carrying hops on my way to Prosser. I could smell the ripe grapes as I cycled by.

    image

A spot of wine tasting at Bacchus Tasting Room in Prosser. Premium parking spot. I came back with some Cabernet Franc and cherry balsamic vinegar. Yum!!!

    image

(Inserted this picture in the wrong place, and can't delete it.) Picture from the vineyard showing the strong sun, even at 8a.

    image

Old West buildings in Grandview, on the way from Sunnyside to Prosser. Took the Lower Yakima Valley out and the roads via Mabton back. Did 37 miles altogether.

    image

Early morning in the vineyard where I camped in the orchard. Got there just as it was getting dark, and managed to get my tent up while I could still see what I was doing! (I am thinking it's time for an air mattress.)

    image

View north from the Vineyard. This is a major apple growing area, and there were large boxes everywhere for the upcoming harvest.

    image

Grapes....think Sangiovese in this photo, but they grow many, many varieties. Fun having Estate Wine from where you have seen the actual grapes growing!

    image

Grapes of the Papacy - Sagrantino. Very rare, at least in the U.S. Yes, I have sampled the wine and very fruity and aromatic.

    image

Finally, a view of the Cowiche Canyon. Really special and it's being preserved. They just did a Monarch Butterfly release there about a week ago.

So many beautiful pictures from you amazing ladies!! Living life.

Just met with my RO to prep for treatments starting next week. We still have a goal of spending a month in Destin FL in November. Then I'll have some pretty pictures.

Exercise is minimal now until my pelvic bone pain is under control. But, I'll get back to it.

    Thanks for all the inspiration!

Three or four years ago a cardiology nurse pointed out to me that I had gained 5 pounds every year. This comment motivated me to lose weight, as I thought, "Ok, I'll lose 5 pounds every year." It took a while to find a way that worked for me, and eventually I lost 28 pounds. It took about a year. Felt great. Then got (another) breast cancer diagnosis. Not happy!!

Since surgery and radiation, I have been too exhausted to do anything, let alone exercise. I've gained 8 pounds since diagnosis in May. Now I am going to get back to moving around by starting slow. I walked 5 minutes the other day, then 10 the next, and yesterday did 20. I hope to find the right amount of exercise - not enough to set me back, but enough to build up stamina.

My goal is to get back to walking an hour a day and to strength training with weights. That seems especially important as now I am taking anastrozole. My bones are already showing signs of weakening. Sometimes fear is my friend; fear of osteoporosis may help motivate me. & I fear gaining the weight back. I wasn't thin, but I felt I was at a healthy weight. So my fear of gaining it back my help motivate me too.

On a different topic - I did the quiz that someone posted and it says that I am 9 years younger than my actual age. Funny! Because I do feel a lot like I did nine years ago; that's when I had my first diagnosis of breast cancer. haha

hi all (great pix!) and welcome essieart. I also started an exercise program with a very short walk and built up from there. Most of the ladies here could probably kick my butt but that's OK. We all do what we can, and they're too nice to actually do it LOL.

Too hot to walk outside the past few days but today's rain cooled things off. Exercise has been stretch break walks at work.

((Kaption)) hope the bone pain eases with tx so you can enjoy FL in Nov.

Gorgeous pictures, PlanB. Glad the move is going well.

Heidi, if you retire in NYC, Cheryl is right; you are going to be getting lots of company (we are happy to sleep on air mattresses or a couch.....just so you know).

    Great picture diary, Claire.

Lilac, glad DS has decided to stick around for college. An ocean is too far away (for mom, anyway!).

Kaption, looking forward to the Florida pictures. It SHOULD be past hurricane season by then.

Welcome essieart! Starting slow is the smart thing to do. The important thing is that you are starting. Also, along with the weight bearing exercises, eat a serving of dried plums (ie prunes) a day. They actually BUILD bones.

Walked with my lady friends this morning, Zumba and Yoga tonight.

Step & Dance class this am, yoga tonight, a 'stop & sniff' doggie walk with the grandpuppy this afternoon (I was dog sitting as DS was out of town for work & wouldn't be back until late......very fun, but didn't get much else done!).

Wow Kaption...absolutely stunning!!! I just did a 5k run to calm myself down from a brutal deadline. But I got everything in one day early!!!

Still have weights to do and then dinner.

I am the one couch surfing in NYC next week. Take the red eye in on Tuesday night. My former business partner and I may be teaming up again, so who knows? Suspect not quite the vacation I had planned. I do want to see The Cloisters as well as a few of my former colleagues from my corporate days.

Prior to leaving, I may sneak in one more ride on Lopez Island in the San Juan Islands. The least hilly of the lot (disagree with the word "flattest" as in no way flat). That will be Saturday if all works out.

Lovely early fall weather here. Just a joy to run and the woods had the most divine scent. - Claire

Welcome essieart you'll get there just do a little each day to start building your stamina back. Gorgeous rainbow Kaption. LB I know you are happy to have your DS stay in the UK to study, he's a bright boy with a steady head on his shoulders. There is a LM mini Q at my Y on Saturday and tomorrow they are having the girl who is presenting Flow do a special class for members tomorrow night so I am going along, I've also signed up for Saturday Combat,CX and Flow (all the new releases). Have fun in New York Claire.

Last night went to Body Combat, it was the instructors birthday so it was more celebrating than fighting, then we went to the Cheesecake Factory after class Tonight did Zumba and 30 minutes of Body Pump had to leave early as I had to pick up my Dress Barn order, yes I ordered the dress for the wedding plus another one - I really need to stay out of that place cause I found a few more things I liked in the store but I refrained from adding to my purchase, sigh......

In a few minutes, I am going to try out a new class called 'Dance Attack' (sounds up your alley, Cheryl). After that I have a list of things to do a mile long, so am banning myself from coming back on the computer for the rest of the day! Happy Friday, All!

Hi, haven't been posting my exercise but have been doing something most days. Still eating out of control and the pounds are beginning to creep back on. Reading has motivated me to get up off this couch and take my bike out. Temps still in 80's during the day but at least now there is a little breeze, more so on a bike. Later a bone builders class.

Only a few more weeks to our SA trip. Looking forward to it for sure.

    Later sculpted friends.

I have been down and out with a cold. Today was the first day I felt OK so my son and i got a short walk in before the rain Actually we walked in the gentle rain. i just came in and sat down and now its raining hard.

Ruth I use one of those long extension leases and when my dog stops to sniff I just kerp walking and he gets a few seconds but then he has to move along. That works well

Wow, Kaption how beautiful is that. We had a gorgeous sunrise today and a cool enough day that the fog was hovering over the fields but I didnt have time to stop and take a pic because I was on my way to work.

Cheryl you will just have to wear dresses to the grocery store! That solves your problem.

    Gorgeous photo!!

It has been a LONG week and today an even LONGER day!! I am on overload!! Most of it has to do with my mother....I love my mother dearly and it breaks my heart to see her decline...a big mess up with getting to her pcp today so we had to cancel the appt (they are calling it a no show), and then this afternoon I got a call that she fell off her mobility scooter....Talk about panic!!! So of course I ran over...her phone wasn't working so I had to call the cable company and get it fixed and call the "help I fell and can't get up" company....When I left, everything was working......And Mom was sitting upright in her scooter. When she fell she pulled th panic button and the SW and someone else helped get and helped put her in her bed. When I got there, she seemed so pathetic!! I need a good cry and can't cry!!!

On a positive note, my DD who left for Israel called me this morning...or at least I thought it was a phone call....so I have it to my ear, then I realize that it is face time....The first time for me!! She sounded so good...and her roommate and bff got on too to say HI!! Yesterday she left me a voice mail and also sounded good. Nothing like having your DD 6K plus miles away and doing good.

Well, candle lighting is in 1/2 hour....I already poured a glad of Malbec....Dinner is mostly done, just have to cook a hot veggie....so I'm going to wish everyone a good Friday night...Be back tomorrow night...

Karen, so sorry for the challenges with your mother. That is so hard to go through. Yes, you certainly need a good cry.

Very glad your DD is doing well. I've done that put the iPhone to my ear for FT before!! It should make a different sound!!!

    (Hugs) for your many stresses.

20 min walk this afternoon (a.k.a. 7th inning stretch). Nice enough to walk outdoors. Much needed break after a marathon of meetings. TGIF!

((Karen)) IDK why you can't cry. Caregiver stress and pressure to be strong? It's hard to be the responsible person 24/7, and you're sandwiched between generations.

TH: Hope you get over your cold quickly.

    Karen: (((HUG)))

Badger: Daily and Vincent are playing near me this weekend but it's the same weekend of my Girl Scout camping trip so I can't see them!

Still hot and humid but I continue to get outside in the evenings to walk/run.

Patoo, it must be the creeping fall season that's causing creeping weight gain. I have to do a fast or something soon, too. LB, nice looking boot camp place. They sure are right about exercise in the mountains burning a lot of calories. I can always eat a lot more when I'm at high altitudes.than when I'm at home. Claire, have fun in NY. Cheryl and Ruth, you are giving me an incentive to retire in NYC or at least spend a few months out of the year there. Twohobbies, hope you feel better soon. I just read an article somewhere (sorry, it was a report in German but the study was in English) about feeding a viral infection and starving a bacterial one. You gotta eat more if you have a cold. Zinc helps as well.

Kickboxing with a youtube video last night. Will go out for a run now,

I have been out of pocket since Weds. night.

Dh and dd were t-boned in my Camry late Weds by a dump truck which ran a red light. By the grace of God, they have minor injuries, although dd is going for ortho consult next week and may have to have a neck MRI. The car of course was totaled.

Huge shout out to Toyota that the main frame did not collapse.

So after 3 crazy days we now have a fancy slightly used Camry. 5th Carfax car and TG we were able to shop online. We have excellent insurance but may have to go after the dump truck company. . .saving that fight to begin next week.

All this after a week's worth of dietary changes which are already helping the LE, or at least my waistline. And to top it off, my boss gave me He** via email on Thursday which I took off to take dd to urgent care, get a rental car, get what was left of my Camry out of the impound yard and to the adjuster, who essentially totaled it on the spot.

At the gym on the dreadmill and catching up on all your posts. Please pray that dd, who is a soccer player, has only minor soft tissue injuries.

Don't you just love, love, love bosses who show how caring they are. Unfortunately today's culture is all about the organization's bottom line; total disregard for people who have the nerve to have a life outside of work.

Just some gardening today but made up my mind to eat better. Day one successful so far.

    Night sculpted friends.
