Hello all!

i am new here (as a poster) although i have been reading many of these threads throughout the course of this crazy adventure and i wish i could thank each and every one of you amazing ladies personally.

So, my story...i guess the best place to start is the beginning! Late July of this year i started having some substantial pain in my left breast. After about 2 weeks of pain i noticed that the entire outer area from my armpit to my nipple was so hard and painful, to the point that my breast was oddly shaped. (07/28/2016) Went to the Family Dr and they said it was likely an infection but sent me for Mammo and US along with some hefty antibiotics. (8/2/16) Mammo showed islands of dense glandular tissue, US didn't show much, being as the tech was in a hurry to get to lunch and only scanned for about 3 mins, to my dismay. i was given a Bi Rads 3 and referred to a specialist. (8/12/16) They sent me for an MRI which showed an area 13cm X 6cm X 4cm (yes, CM..centimeters!) of "clumped nonmass enhancement" and given a category 4B and told i needed to have an MRI guided biopsy. (09/01/16) had the biopsies, they did 3 sites and collected 18 samples. However when the imaging report for the biopsies was posted on the patient portal it referred to "it" as a category 5 lesion and global asymmetry .

my question is what is the likelihood that this is cancerous? I am baffled as to why it would have changed from a 4B to a 5 in the matter of a few weeks. Could this be a difference in interpretation between radiologists or if whatever it is is changing that noticeably. i was told by both the family dr and the surgeon (who was reluctant to order the original MRI) that chances of malignancy were extremely low given my age (just turned 24) and lack of family history. i did however, have a precancerous colon polyp removed at age 21 which is also extremely rare. So age hasnt really been on my side.

in any sense, i go back to see the surgeon on the 8th so the biopsies should be back by then. i am just trying to get some thoughts on what it may be in the interim. My wedding is on the 10th and at this point i cant even focus on anything other than my breast.

Hello tls. I can't explain why the birads score changed. Strange before they even had the biopsy results. But why I did ring in here is to tell you to be a squeaky wheel. You are young (my daughter's age) and given the wide range of discrepancies here between the original scores and the one now, I would just call...and call...until you get a proper answer. No sense worrying about what could be if the people who gave these scores know why they gave them. What always puzzles me is that information is sometimes needlessly withheld. It's your health and you deserve answers. Take control. You would be surprised sometimes how fast you can get answers. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Mary

thank you for the Mary!! I called them this morning and with a little squeaking... They told me the pathology reports actually came back benign, but all 36 cores showed granulomatous lobular mastitis. So thankful that it isn't cancer but from what I am reading about IGM I do have quite the road ahead. Regardless, all of you ladies are amazing and the support on this site is so refreshing to see. Thank you all for your support!

    Hola Everyone

I am new here. I am 25 years old. Two months ago I found lump on my right breast. Next Tuesday I will be going under a biopsy. I am BI-RADS 4. My doctors been telling me other things what it can it be. I am very scared it's breast cancer. My lump doesn't hurt me at all. I been reading different things what it can be. Since breast cancer doesn't run in my family but ovarian cancer does. I am very scared of my test results after my biopsy.
