Any reason to visit the mastectomy shop if I plan to live flat?

My BS gave me a prescription for 1 set prostheses and 6 mastectomy bras and a brochure to a mastectomy shop. First, that is more bras than I have every owned at one time. ha! Second, I plan to live flat. Third, the shop has a few locations but none are very convenient to my location (would be about a 30 minute drive).

Given that I plan to live flat, is there any reason for me to visit the shop? Do they even carry any products that are helpful to women who choose to not wear prostheses?

Eh! You can always go just for kicks. It may be useful to have a set of foobs in your drawer, you never know. Your dh could always wear them for halloween :

The shop in Seattle carries the Amoena Valletta camisole and they'll write it up as a bra. It's my new favorite fashion accessory and I have it in several colors. It's really nice to have under my V neck and low cut tops so when I bend over you can't see down to my belly button. Also really cute with partial zipped up sweatshirt

Its been over a year since my BMX, and I have yet to visit the foob store. Right now, I'm happy going au natural, since I've never liked wearing bras, but it's nice to know that a prosthetic is an option

I tried a number of bras and they all had seams that pressed into my torso and underarm in a way that was uncomfortable and made me think, "Yeah, like this is good for avoiding lymphedema." I haven't been unhappy without prostheses.

My BS told me she would write a similar prescription after my bilateral mastectomy if I wanted. I might want "wedding and funeral" foobs so we'll see.

I'll probably live flat after everything settles down post surgery.

I've been wearing Coobie bras for the past few years and someone on this site commented that you can remove the ",modesty" inserts and substitute a small breast form. I ordered the $12 triangle featherweight foam forms ('a' cup) from TLC in case I want a little something. My husband modeled the Coobie/forms for me and it looked good under a lightweight t-shirt. Momine - we don't wait for Halloween in my house ;-)

I like the camisole idea, especially if my insurance would pay for it!

I  am a uniboober.  I have one fake boob and a couple of bras.  Very seldom do I wear them, but it is nice to have them if needed.  I tend to dress around my missing boob, but on occasion - I am glad I have both the bra and boob.

I am a uniboober also. It is amazing all the things that are "out there" at mastectomy shops! I wear a foob everyday and wear MX bras, but I am always surprised at all the stuff at those shops! Bathing suits are one thing to consider as they are cut higher if designed for MX women. And the camisoles are really lovely. I don't frequent these shops often, but when I do, I'm surprised at new things! It took me quite awhile before I was emotionally ready to visit a store!
