I was on Tamoxifen for about 25 months. I notice some pink discharge in the toilet. After a lot of checks, I was diagnosed endometrial cancers a week ago. I am premenopausal. I still have my period but it's irregular. I had my endometrial lining checked regularly and never over 1cm. My doctor said it would be OK under 1cm. But I got the cancer!!! Tamoxifen induced endometrial cancer does happen.

I had MRI yesterday to check endometrial cancer stage, have to wait till Moday for the result,so scared.

Yes this happened to SIL, she is doing chemo now and had tumor removed but some left. Cancer in neck and other lymph nodes yikes.

They knew immediately to stop tamoxifen and start treating her for endo cancer.

She was premenopausal in hind site she should have had letrozole or lupron to put in menopause or had ovaries removed.

Her oncodx was 14, she had lumpectomy, radiation and tamoxifen, standard treatment now she is fighting for her life.

I was told that the endometrial cancer would be early stage. Normally it can be cured by surgery. I had grade 1 endometrioid adenocarcinoma which is less aggressive. but still don't know cancer stage. I am scared to death!!

You are probably are just fine. SIL had a huge tumor and could feel it. Doctors didnt listen. They finally took a biopsy and checked lymph nodes and found endo/uterine cancer no specific type. I still don't know the details on the cancer other than it wasn't a recurrence of her breast cancer. Doctor said he could feel cancer in her abdomen tissue. She has been doing chemo to knock it down. I was afraid when they said in neck lymph nodes. Her sister who is a midwife nurse said it looks bad. She is only 50.

She lives in a small town, i question if she is getting the best care. She likes her doctor so what can you say. I just pray for her and I'm angry that she wasn't taken seriously when she first complained. I think lupron or having ovaries removed and going to an AI drug is a better even safer way to go. Tamoxifen's link to endocrine cancer is real.

Sounds like you caught yours early.

I was diagnosed stage 2 endometrial cancer. The cancer has invaded into cervix. Doctor said I need radical hysterectomy to clear all tumor cells and will have 2cm vagina tissue removed. Doctor said I  need one and half month to recover from surgery. This is much much worse than breast cancer...I was so so upset.

oh I am sorry, I hope you can have relief from pain medication. Sounds like you will need to take it really easy.

I wonder if they are taking note of this and warn people about tamoxifen. My SIL sounds a little different than yours, she is doing different chemo regiments then I guess they will decide if she needs more surgery. I think hers spread throughout her body.

Hi Meow13, How long did your SIL took tamoxifen? If cancer has spread throughout body, I don't think surgery will be helpful. The best treatment for late stage cancer is chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

My breast cancer is very similar to yours, K197gra. Biggest difference is that I had lymph node involvement. Started taking Tamoxifen a bit more than a year ago, but I stopped in June when I had a blood clot and pulmonary embolism. Survived that, thank the Lord. Now I am having a bloody discharge, not a large amount, but bright red. Going to my gynecologist tomorrow for an exam. Of course, my fear is uterine cancer due to the Tamoxifen. I know the thinking is that the benefits of Tamoxifen outweigh the risks, but blood clots, PEs, and risk of uterine cancer are risks that I can live without. Prayers for you, and hope you are coping well.

I think maybe 2 years, it might have been a bit longer. She was dx a year after me she was premenopausal and had lumpectomy radiation then tamoxifen. I remember her oncodx was 14, mine 34. I just heard she is changing to another chemo and they aren't sure if it is working. I really wish she would either come to Seattle or Boston for treatment. She is being treated in a small town and I worry about the doctors experience.
