Lupron plus tamoxifen or switch to an AI?

I have been doing Lupron shots for three months now, and my MO is hesitant to switch me to an AI just yet, she is worried my depression/anxiety will get even worse. The SOFT trial shows better results with an AI though, although my MO says based on the SOFT trial I don't even need this course of treatment (it was my idea to be more aggressive) so she thinks sticking with tamoxifen will be just fine.

Just wondering what others have heard from their doctors or if anyone else is doing ovarian suppression combined with tamoxifen?

Kathy, SOFT trial indicates that OS+AI benefits 2 groups of women: under 35 and pre-memopausal women who had chemotherapy (i.e. their cancer was high risk to begin with). For the other subsets, the increased benefit of OS+AI was not statistically significant. It's a fairly aggressive regimen and it puts fully pre-memo women into full-blown menopause and has its own set of serious side effects. So you need to carefully weigh the pros and cons that applies to your situation.

I was 38 at diagnosis, 39 now. I feel like I am in a gray area age wise since so many of the studies say under 40 had poorer results.,,that's why I chose the shots. Just not sure about switching hormonals. I have two little kids to raise and want to be aggressive
