Got my pathology back today and an area of ILC was found in the LCIS. This is not an upgrade that I wanted!

Boo! Hiss! I'm so sorry. You know, you are the first person I remember to have that happen from an LCIS diagnosis in a long time.

I am so sorry about your recent diagnosis of invasive lobular carcinoma within your LCIS. You most likely are a candidate for lumpectomy, sentinel lymph node biopsy and radiation followed by anti hormone therapy. I would just caution you that lobular cancer has a higher risk of bilaterality (developing in both breasts) than the more common invasive ductal cancer and while, bilateral mastectomies may be overkill depending upon your other risk factors, be sure to ask your doctor about a MRI to rule out a hidden cancer in the other breast. Good luck and take care.

Sorry to hear your news, I had IDC in 2008 and one year later PLCIS was found in a MRI+biopsies. I have been closely monitored and today I was informed that I have a 3.5 mms ILC. I am sad and mad but will be having a BMX in the near future.
