Breast oedema or lymphoedema?

Hi all,

I finished radiotherapy in July 2015 and my breast swelled up and stayed swelled up. It has not gone down at all. Now the surgeon is telling me that it can take up to three years to go down. Breast nurse referred me to a lymphoedema specialist who called it lymphoedema.

I stopped going to see the lymphoedema specialist as I felt I could manage the simple lymph drainage and kinesio taping by myself,

Now, what do you ladies think, do I have breast oedema or breast lymphoedema?

I am in the UK, hence the spelling is different.

Thanks in advance,

XX

i can't really tell you, but I developed the same symtoms four to five months after finishing radiation. I went two times a week for two months for lymphatic massage and compression binding. It got too expensive so I started doing myself st home. Well...it is back and just like what it was before. So upsetting and sore. I see my oncologist on 9/1 and plan on talking to him. I am scheduled for a mammogram and hate thinking about how much it will hurt.

From what I have found on line, it is something that can last quite awhile and return. If I find out anything after this upcoming doctor visit, I will let you know.

    God bless,

    Liana

I still have swelling and I finished treatment in March 2015. It is slight swelling, and with clones on not noticeable to anyone but me. My doc said that it might never go away

I finished rads in May and have considerable swelling in my breast. It is also red, hot and pitted and the thought of having a mammogram of that breast horrifies me. Is it even possible given that it is approximately one third again as large as my right breast? It feels as though it might burst if they tried to squish it in the mammography machine and the only kind of mammogram that showed anything and resulted in my dx was 3D.

Please let me know if any of you have been through this.
