Back Pain

Options

Just recently, when I stand for a period of time - like cooking or doing dishes- I sometimes gets aches in my back on both sides of my spine about midway up my back (between elbows and shoulders). not sure what it is? Could it be the dreaded mets come calling or does it sound more like muscle pain? Anybody experienced this? Love to hear about your experience.

Cyndi, it sounds like muscle pain. That said, the muscles could be trying to keep a problem with your spine from causing other problems. The odds this is mets is small, but if it lasts for more than two weeks you should go to the doctor and ask for an x-ray.

The reason I say this is that's how they found my spinal mets. But my back pain was constant. The muscles were trying to hold my lumbar spine together. If yours is intermittent it's most likely to be nothing.

Thank you for your response pajim. I have my 6 month visit with my onc coming up September 15th. I will mention it to her and see what she says. Hopefully I just pulled a muscle or something.

I've been having pain in my mid-back, slightly to the left of my spine, for a few months now. It hasn't gotten worse, though, so I did a search here and found quite a few threads that mention similar pain. Here's one example: https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/105/topic...

It seems to be pretty common. I have a feeling mine is probably caused by my surgery/reconstruction and/or my connective tissue disease.
