Teka- I wish you come with me too! Especially tonight as I have plans to do the last summer jazz here with a group called Women's Voices, Exquisite Power. The friend that was going with me has come down with a bug and has had to opt out, but I may go on my own as it will be awesome! I did already do a concert this week as you heard, so I may also choose to just relax.

I want everything on that plate too!

Teka: I'll have what that cat is having. I took my scallions out of a low planter because onions are toxic to dogs and my pup puts every low hanging plant in his mouth. The heat ended my tomatoes about a month ago, so I'm envious of your veggie bounty My knowledge of birds is limited to identifying them by size and color i.e. large and black, small and red it my limit so I had to look up sun conure. Oh my so beautiful. They remind me of similar birds at the San Diego wild life park that people would feed a special sugary mix and they would sit on your hand or arm or head etc.

Jazzy; Delightful that you have so many cultural items in your area. Maybe staying home and relaxing is what your body and spirit needs...On the other hand....!

Teka that platter looks inviting, I made a stir fry last night with shrimp.

Magiclight does your dog weed, that would probably come in handy. I have a critter that is eating my garden veggies, I think it must be a rabbit. My husband needs to go around the yard and board any holes. I notice the rabbit doesn't eat the celery, just my favourites.

    Jazzy enjoy your concert.

Since my surgery last week I am still cooking, but my daughter is coming to make supper tonight. She is bringing beans and potatoes and I'm making the main course and dessert, how does that happen lol

Looking forward: my pup does not weed but prefers to trim and remove sprinkler head of which I have dozens in front, back and side yard. Must call someone to replace the ones that he detached from at the main pipe. I'm getting a better appreciation for the term 'In an instant'.Loopy I don't know about you, but that part about making dinner happens to me because I offer by saying, no problem I can just get that together!!

    Hello Hermit friends!

I'm sorry I haven't posted lately. Radiation is going well and I am a third of the way through. With that, working full-time and our toddlers I am so tired by the night I conk out! I am in full hermit mode once I am home and am limiting social plans so I won't have to back out of them!

I see you all are doing well! Love the coffee post Lindzanne and am glad you are toughening it out.

LOVE the pic of hot air balloons Jazzygirl! Omgosh how breathtaking!

Hello alsoto Lookingforward,Teka, magiclight, Lilly, and May66, and Magdalene-I am so sorry to hear about your mets. Peace and comfort be with you.

Georgiareds, it is amazing you have any energy left at night but I think you are awesome for posting here and letting us know that you are doing well with radiation. Where are you in that process? I think you get to count checking in with other hermits as a social activity and no backing out required if you are a no-show. Wishing you peaceful days ahead.

Georgiareds I'm glad radiation is going well, that's nice to hear since I'm kind of dreading it, keep hearing horror stories about skin damage, etc.

Someone in my chemo forum posted this and I wanted to share it with you all, it just really speaks to the kind of support I've found here at BCO.

Georgiared glad to hear radiation is going well, our protocol in Canada is 20 days of radiation. Pretty soon you will be through it and looking back saying wow I'm done.

Lindz love the picture. I like to go into a new situation with an open mind. I had reconstruction surgery at the beginning of August and did not read any of the horror stories and still won't. My way of coping is telling myself I'm going to breeze through it and if there are problems I will deal with them as they come. I still have the drains and admit I will be very happy when they are out. Thinking positive thoughts for you

Georgiareds- good to hear you are getting through rads, but also busy with taking care of a young family. Very hard to do, and think not making social plans is a good plan for now. All I could do was get through work, come home to rest, eat a bit and do it all over the next day for quite some time. You can just tell people you will see them down the line when you are better and stronger. I hope you don't have too much fatigue!

Spent some time with a friend today whom is fostering four beautiful kittens. Three of them are siamese, one tiger and white that my friend is in love with and think he may have a forever home soon.

A strange request but needing something to look forward to, not had a proper holiday since diagnosis .........Thinking of visiting Costa Rica early next year but will be on my own - anyone been there?  Any recommendations for an animal lover?

Lily- good to hear from you. I have been to CR, and loved it, about 11 years ago during a yoga retreat where we lived in the rainforest for a week, did yoga and a whole lot of other things. CR has some of the most amazing flora and fauna in central america. I hope to go back some day.

As an animal lover, consider finding an ecolodge there for your best animal experiences. We were at one way down south that has us in the middle of the rain forest living among the monkeys, parrots, tucans and the like. Also close to the ocean where therewas a dolphin preserve nearby. I am not sure the place is an ecolodge anymore, think i heard that from the yoga teacher. But know there are lotd others and they will have naturalists to take you on trips, etc. I think the pacific side has more rain forest and the gulf side may be more beachy?

Do you use TripAdvisor? It is a place where people post on reviews of places and also can review or ask questions. I use it a lot to research places when I travel and or post things from my trips. That is a great place to ask people about ecolodges and their experiences. It is an international site and might be a helpful place to find the best place to stay?

Glad to hear you are planning this trip, you will love it there!

Thanks for your comments and support Jazzygirl and Lookingforward!

    Love those kittens!!

I had a migraine this week and missed work and radiation that day, but better than three weeks ago when it lasted for 6 days!

    Costa Rica sounds amazing! Wow!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Labor Day weekend. Any special plans? The in-laws are coming to help us do stuff around the house and my husband and I have one more fantasy football draft. And, my daughter and I are going to get the Fall stuff out! Just love this time of year

I do like the thought of longer nights when I can get all cozy by early evening and not feel like I should be outside doing stuff because it is still light. I'm just about ready, though not quite, to go from green to gold and will surely enjoy the temperatures dropping from triple to double digits.

Good morning our temperatures have already dropped, but I do love fall.

Last drain came out a couple of days ago , after 4 weeks. Now we are off to the mountains for some hiking, or maybe I should say long walks.

This is one of the places we will be seeingimage

    Hello Hermits . . .

I am not very social in the best of times, and I am even less so since my current bout with cancer. Usually I like solitude but It's not so great right now. I don't have a good support network of friends or family. Right now, it feels more like isolation than solitude.

My husband is doing a great job of taking care of me. I'm continuing to see my therapist. I like the medical staff I am working with and feel I can call on them anytime. But still . . . my days are too full of "Anxiety, Depression & Other Emotional Effects."
