Kat, people react differently to chemo, and I was told Taxol would be easier than AC, but for me it really wasn't. I had such terrible bone pain with the Taxol...we are told to take Claritan, the allergy med, when on Taxol. There is something in the Claritan that does help with the bone pain. I hope your partner finds the Taxol to be easier. Please give her my best wishes for a successful and easy path through treatment. Hugs to you both

Hi Kat1212...I had DD Taxol (4 treatments over 8 weeks.) It seems on this board lots of women do 1 treatment every week for 12 weeks.

Although it was not as harsh as AC was, it had it's own weird side effects (for me anyway.)

Once I started DD Taxol, I was really unsteady on my feet (still am), I have weird fingernail issues (still do) and my eyelashes and eyebrows all fell out (not sure if that would have happen eventually with AC but did not happen till end of Taxol.)

All of these things might happen DD or not, but just my experience.

    Hope this helps,

    Maryann

Forgot to add....my last Taxol was 05/20/16 and I still have side effects (but they are manageable.)

thank you for your feedback. I notice that you had chemotherapy then surgery and radiotherapy. My partner had surgery first and is now doing her chemo. Does the sequence of treatment make any difference

Kay, I have IBC, Inflammatory Breast Cancer, and the protocol for this BC is chemo, surgery, rads.

Hanley50, which permanent side effects do you have?

I also had DD taxol and my surgeries first. I am with meadow in that I found taxol more difficult than ac. On ac I had a lot of intestinal issues with nausea and constipation, was foggy headed and in a lot of neulesta pain. On taxol I was never nauseous, was clear headed, but developed neuropathy in my legs, had a lot of fatigue, and still had constipation and bone pain from neulesta. Now 8 months pfc the only lingering DD taxol issues are neuropathy in my legs which is permanent. I try to combat that by keeping active, eating clean, and losing 60 lbs since chemo ended.
