    Hi girls and boys

Just so needing your feedback and thoughts on this, even though I know we aren't medical professionals....I had my US a while back, they have found one spot needing to be checked. This picture below ISNT it.

    image

This picture above is my apparently a benign ductal ablation/cyst (???) whatever that means.

But I keep looking up cysts and apparently....they look like this -

    Mine doesn't look like that.

What are the tubey bits? Why are they saying its benign when it doesn't have clear round margins...I'm so confused.

Off to the specialist on Wednesday to discuss all of this, but just wanting to weigh in on your thoughts xx

Hi Jesus_girl. I suggest you edit-away that first picture until you have cropped-off that upper margin. Someone's identifying info is on there.

    I agree with Mitzie.

I know it's hard, but try and stay away from Google for a while. While it can be of great help most of the time, when you are in the high fever of anxiety, it does more harm than good.

I'm going to be gentler here--I know you are scared, and fear drives us to sometimes manic research in order to protect ourselves. That's your survival mechanism kicking in and you should honor it. But trying to read a radiology report on our own, unless we are trained radiologists, will only cause more fear and panic because whenever we find some aberration in our breasts we immediately go to the dark place of bc.

Try not to resort to Dr. Google, whose info and training is often a bunch of old info or outright BS, and ask your question/s above of your radiologist/medical professional when you meet with them. Ask as many questions as you need to and don't worry about taking up their time. You've hired THEM to care for you. Write down your questions and don't leave till you feel you've gotten the expert advice you have paid for. And let us know how it goes.

    Hugs,

    Claire

Hi Mitzie Cat, please keep your blunt comments to yourself, not that it's any of your business but I have a huge history of cancer in our extended and immediate family and have lost moe people than you can imagine or fathom who were dear to me to this disgusting vicious disease.

So yes, I am absolutely going to be my best advocate and ask questions and research when I don't understand something. I was only posting to see if anyone on here potential had a "ductal ablation" and was hoping someone would say OH! I've got that, its totally nothing mine looks the exact same. What I do NOT need is your bluntness.

Let me share this possible scenario with you....if for example in the unlikely event I happen to get diagnosed with breast cancer, every tom dick and harry will be applauding the fact that I pushed until I got answers that I was satisfied with. They would be patting me on the back for the fact that I researched and asked questions until I understood exactly what I was looking for.

Granted, that may not be the case here. But I refuse to be made to feel like an idiot because I want to understand my own results more clearly!

Far out. Thought everyone on here was supportive and kind. Guess I found the one person who wasn't.

Thanks to everyone else for your comments and support

Docs generally know what they are looking at. The edges on your ultrasound are pretty smooth. Could be a fibro If you had seen my ultrasound there were no edges just a jaggered black mess, my BC looked like a crazyshadow with no definition. Try not to worry, how big is it? Maybe they can do a biospy for peace of mind. I believe cysts on ultrasound don't look solid in structure and docs can see fluid through them. Just my opinion, but I'm no expert. Good luck

I had a cyst ultrasounded. My understanding is the radiologist can tell on the ultrasound if something is solid. Cysts look different on ultrasound from solid masses. If they're telling you it's a cyst, it probably is. And if you're in the US, don't get it biopsied and expect insurance to pay for it if the docs are not recommending biopsy. Insurance usually won't pay for a biopsy unless doctors say it is necessary.

While I was getting a biopsy (the right-side cancer), the tech was looking for the area with her ultrasound wand. I was watching her. She passed over an area that was very black, like yours. I just said in passing, "That must be a cyst, it's so dark." She said, "Yep!" When she found the area of concern it was obviously very different. Cancer isn't black on ultrasound. Darker, yes, but not like that. Cysts are that black because they're filled with fluid.
