    I am recently diagnosed with stage IIIA 2cm IDC with at least one lymph/Axilla positive. Going through my eight round of AC+Taxol chemo biweekly followed by surgery, radiation and hormone/tamoxefin for 10 years treatment plan.

    Reading your posts give me hope. I am 49 years old now. Any recommendations/suggestions for me?

    Ina, I was right there almost five years ago.

    My own treatment felt like a nightmare that would go on forever. I wept and worried. But now the elephant in the room is a little mouse in the corner. "Cancer radio" is no longer playing in my head 24/7. Cancer is in my rear-view mirror. I got on with live, kept working, had grandchildren, loved and laughed.

    Yesterday I was talking to my sister's friend and she is 20 years since her Stage III diagnosis and doing great. She gave me a lot of inspiration and hope. Wishing you all the best

    20 years is so good to hear Livingisloving! Another one on that theme - I was on a course a month ago and the lady running it had had breast cancer plus in the lymph nodes also 20 years ago and was given 9 months to live at the time!!

    Need help? Is it possible to have lymphedema in your leg area? I was tested at the hospital for a possible blood clot, and they said it's lymphadema and have referred me to a lymphadema specialist? I thought it only occurred in your arm or trunk area?

    Wow Valstim...not sure but that does seem unusual. Let us know what you find out...thankfully it was't a blood clot!

    I was reading thru my posts on the Feb 2014 Chemo group and what a difference things are even in this short time. It's getting easier more and more, some days are better than others. In some ways after tx ends is where the real test begins, but really I'd never want to go back to chemo again lol

    It's nice to see all of you 5 years and more ladies posting. ((hugs))

    8 years out as of 8/15, and always grateful. I echo what others have said: cancer is no longer on my mind 24/7. I didn't think that day would come way back when, but it has. My then 2 year old daughter is now 10 (going on 20) and I am here to watch her grow - just as I prayed. Hang on newbies. This is not all of who you are. Just a piece. Keep your head down, pay attention to your own story and plow through. There's life on the other side.

    I'm here and beyond my 5 year anniversary of diagnosis now. No relapse, no recurrence.

    Gained a lot of weight from anxiety eating but lost it again and started running. I focus on the good things and it helps.

    Of course there are negatives and its been a tough 5 years: got divorced, lost my job, lost my best friend to cancer . . . but here I am.

    My motto is "one foot in front of the other, mindfully".

    I'm still alive. My FB keeps reminding me. getting my life back together. its been hard. went to stage 4 oct 2013. NED over 2 yrs

    that pic is old, but hair has come back. think I look the same or better. chemo is such a excellent exfoliant. lol

    Almost 6 years to the day, I completed my chemo. I was anxious and joked with my onc that I would like another 'hit' of AC if he was willing. I didn't need it and today I am healthy and happy working to help fellow ILCers and metastatic research.

    Its a long road but you will look back on it knowing you have done everything you needed to do to live a long happy life!!!

    My 7th cancerversary will be a huge celebration as it is a turning point for ILC.

    Happy Friday everyone! I've posted this before - but wondering if there are any Stage III Her2+ stories out there? I do follow the HER2+ boards quite a bit, but I don't see that similar diagnosis we all like to look out for to give us comfort. Have a fantastic weekend!
