My daughter had prophylactic breast surgery 10 days ago. she had decided it would be better if I did not go with her to chose the doctors, which I understood. Today the flap had dead skin cut off. The path report was completely different from what she was told. one breast had. There is a two hundred difference in what was removed from one breast. Did some digging and quite shocked at what I found. Any advice please.

Hi 1worried-mom - It is great that you found this site and you will find a wealth of information here.

Can you elaborate on what the difference was in the path report from what she was told about her one breast? The more info the better here. More often than not someone will be able to give you advice or an answer to your questions.

Thank you for your response. One breast had 400 (?) removed and the other had 200 (?). I have had a double mastectomy, unlike my daughter I did not have reconstruction and I was surprised by how much breast was remaining, especially on the sides. One breast flap skin is dead and was removed, scared it will continue, any suggestions to prevent this?

10 days out is still very early to determine final outcomes... There is lots of swelling and healing that needs to occur. The necrosis can hopefully be prevented from further issue but is not entirely uncommon. It is also not uncommon for revisions to be necessary.

Unfortunately I am of no help on the different amounts removed since I gave never known a PS to measure the removed tissue in a BMX and have it recorded.
