Geez if it's not one thing it's another. So about a month ago I had some unexplained bruising on the top of my foot. It was a lot. I went to ER and they basically told me they did not know what it was. My platelets were low but not enough to cause the bruising they say. I made an appointment with my onc as she is also a hematologist. She did not know what caused it either, but did say if it happens again to call her. Well it happened again. Not as bad, same foot, but this time on the bottom and up through two toes. I of course googled this and am finding that tamoxifen can cause this. Has anyone had this happen. Calling my onc tomorrow.

Thanks,

Nancy

Perhaps...I noticed some bruising on my foot, and it looked like it was caused by my flipflops (heavy, made of cork) although it hadn't happened before. So I suppose it could have been the tamox. I would be interested to hear what your doc says.

I will let you know. She never mentioned tamoxifen the first time it happened so not sure what her plan is this time

Are you taking a baby aspirin with your Tamoxifen? When I was taking Tamoxifen, my onc recommended taking a baby aspirin with it to reduce the risk of a blood clot. I did notice having more bruises than normal, but that would have been due to the baby aspirin, not the Tamoxifen itself.

No I'm not taking aspirin or fish oil. My onc called me back and asked that. I stopped the fish oil the first time this happened per her advice. Thanks for the tip though. I'm waiting to hear back from my onc again. Personally, I think it is the tamoxifen and I think the tamoxifen is lowering my platelets too, but what do I know. I may ask to go on Femara for a few months and see what happens. I'll probably hate it lol

I don't know. I think a lot of what we suffer is from the chemo, and some from the result of the tamoxifen. I have a bruise on my left leg that has not yet healed after 4 weeks. I know how it happened. I have a bruise on the top of my foot and I'm not sure how it got there. I know that it takes a lot longer for my body to heal from small cuts an bruises than it did pre chemo-tamoxifen. I also started back to Crossfit on 01 May and am doing just fine.. my muscle soreness from working out disappears after a couple days just like it did before. Hang in there, keep an eye on your spots and keep getting checked, but know that some of this is just due to being poisoned by chemo and then not really being given time to recover before screwing with our bodies natural hormone cycles with drugs.. It sucks but it's manageable.

I have always bruised easily but since being on Tamoxifen (almost 3 years now) I have been getting random little bruises on my fingers and hands, sometimes other places. It's like a blood vessel decides to just spontaneously "blow out". I can even feel it sometimes when it happens. The bruises are small and don't cause any problems, but I've always attributed them to the Tamox as I've also read that it can cause this.

    Thank you everyone!

Monica this last time I felt the bruise coming on. It felt like I stepped on a bee and I was forming a lump. Then the lump if it even was one went away.So weird! The next day I saw the bruising. I talked to my onc today and she is not concerned unless they start happening more frequently or become larger. It is like a random blood vessel blowing out I agree
