Eye Freckles aka Choroidal Nevus and mets

I will be driving to my son's graduation from basic training this week so I went to the eye doctor to get glasses. She told me everything looked great except I have these eye freckles. She showed me the photo. There are 3 in one eye, none in the other. She told me that sometimes these are nothing but given the fact that it had been a long time since I've seen an Ophthalmologist and it wasn't at there office, there is nothing to compare it to. She wants me to come back in a month to see if anything has changed and go from there. She explained that though it could be nothing that it is very common with my history to for this to mean the cancer has spread. She said the eyes are one of the most common places for a metastasis to occur. Has anyone else heard this?

Would this be a recurrence to the eye or that there are mets elsewhere also?

I am dropping my other son off for basic and leaving from there to see his brother graduate. It's a long drive to make alone, not to mention the drive back to an empty house and having this on my mind now.

    I guess there's no law against eye freckle mets, but as far as I know, IDC goes to bone, lungs, liver, and maybe brain, before venturing off into the weirder spots. I have always had freckles in my irises, as did my mother, and, to date, no MD has remarked on them, nor have they changed. So do you or those near and dear to you remember admiring your freckles over the years? If not, I'd contact your previous eye MD and see if maybe their notes address these spots.

    Ohh. I see you are speaking of a choroidal nevus, which I never heard of until now, but it is something inside the eye which can be perfectly benign or, sometimes, not. I'd still contact the previous doc, but that one-month revisit sounds very reassuring.

    it does it commonly go to the eye, but it rarely can. Glad they are following it. Keep us posted
