My favorite high school class was .......
-
English. I had an amazing teacher sophomore, Junior and senior year. He made learning fun and would crack up his students as he was teaching Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, Shakespeare, etc. I remember telling him at graduation how much of an impact he made on my high school experience. He was young at that time, in his early 30s. He said to me, I guarantee you won't remember me in five years. Well, my girlfriend and Ivisited our school 7 years after graduation just to let him know that we certainly did not forget him. We weren't the only ones. He has since retired, is considered a legend at my alma mater, and has a Facebook fan page devoted to him.
Patty, wow! That is impressive!
A teacher/professor who made an impact on my life is...because..
-
my college advisor, a WONDERFUL, smart, caring man. I would say I got my whole teaching philosophy from him and my mom (another great teacher). About 15 years after I graduated, I attended a workshop he was giving. During a break, I approached him and he said, "Hi Ruth" and started talking like we had seen each other yesterday. Can't say enough good things about him!
Another teacher who made a big impact on me is....
-
were colleagues. During about 30 years, at various levels and jobs in education, my talented and caring colleagues inspired me the most. I never really had a teacher of mine inspire me. Actually by 5th grade I had already decided to be a teacher and can clearly remember sitting in class thinking " I can do a better job than she is." Truly my colleagues in elementary, middle school, and at the college level who cared first and foremost about students and believed in them were my role models. The creative and inspirational teachers I knew were the ones I wanted to "be like." When I taught teachers at the university level-even my online students (teachers)-I found incredible inspiration.

One crazy travel-by-airplane story I have is.....
-
Ok, I'm not comfortable flying. At all. Even a little bit of turbulence scares the crap out of me. So, the hubs and I had a wedding to go to in Colorado Springs, CO. We had to fly into Denver, and take a commuter flight to our destination. Well, our plane was one of those propeller planes, and even though it was only a twelve minute flight, it was by far the scariest flight that I've ever taken. Pure violent turbulence from the moment the plane took off until it landed. I spent the entire flight clutching the armrests and praying. So, on our flight back I had 4 stiff margaritas before I would get on the plane. It helped.:
This weekend I plan .....
-
go to the Farmer's Market and maybe out to eat with a friend.
(hsant: good grief that 12 minute flight sounded so scary! Smart thinking on the 4 margaritas before the return flight.)

O'Charlies. They have the best salad that comes with most meals. A meal isn't complete to me without a salad. They have the best chipotle chicken. I always pick this no matter how often I go. On Wednesday the have free pie. I always get Cherry pie wit whipped cream. I order and eat it first. My tummy is shrunk with always vomiting a few bites file me up and I don't wanna eat warmed up pie that has whipped cream on it I bring home a doggie bag that lasts a couple meals for me. Besides life's short eat dessert first is my motto.
