Beautiful pictures, Claire!

Gorgeous pictures Claire! Thanks for posting them.
Karen: Safe travels. You have had such a exciting trip!
Ruth: OMG! Stella is adorable! I want her! Your kitchen will be so pretty.
I finished mowing the yard and luckily no more bee stings. It is so humid that I was completely drenched.
-
Ouch Wonderland hope you are okay. Lovely pictures Claire. Safe journey home Karen, you'll need a vacation to get over your vacation.
Did Body Pump and Body Combat classes this morning then this afternoon went to a lovely pool party/BBQ and now I am completely exhausted. -
At Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv. Flight was supposed to leave at 11:50 am. Delayed till 4:00pm. As a result missing my connection in Toronto back to Denver as I only had a 2 hour layover! By the time I land, no more flights to Denver tonight. hopefully I can get on a flight Tuesday morning. They can't book the ticket till I arrive in Toronto. I called the airline after they told me that here! It's already been a long day! I was up at 5:30 so I could walk and went to bed way too late! Hope to sleep on the plane. Air Canada gave everyone a voucher to get lunch. They will put me up in Toronto. My DD#1 and SIL live there so I could stay with them but depending on what time I get through customs and re-book my flight to Denver I might just stay at the hotel. I had 2 appointments on Tuesday that I needed to cancel. It's been a royal pain the the you know where!!! Waiting for phone to chart then going to walk around the terminal for 1/2 hour or so. Have a great day

Hi all. I hope it's ok to join this thread.
I've been hiking 5 to 6 days a week in the early morning for the last six weeks, and its nice to find a thread devoted to exercise. iI've had a love/hate relationship with the gym for the past 25 years, but adore getting outside and experiencing nature.
I look forward to reading about all of your exercise programs
-
Karen - what a wonderful trip you've had. Thanks so much for sharing the pictures. Just saw you were stuck at the airport, and now with no connection after you get to Toronto. Hope it doesn't diminish the vacation glow too much. Ruth and Wonder - ouch!! Those wasp stings are nasty and hurt for a long time. Stella is adorable! Beautiful pix Claire, and hee hee on the sign.
Escaped the heat with a nice weekend at the cabin. Spent Saturday chasing away a particularly persistent black bear mom and her cub. She tore down a couple of the bird feeders before we spotted her, so we chased her off, but she kept coming back about every half hour or so - I guess to check for spilled seeds. The cub was totally adorable tagging after her, and we'd love to watch them, but for their own safety we always chase them off because we don't want them getting too used to humans. We keep old metal pots next to the doors so we can grab them and bang them to scare them off. Black bears tend to be rather shy and just want to be left alone, so even just shouting at them is usually enough to make them take off. I managed to grab a few pix on my cell phone.
Here she is eyeing a hummingbird feeder before we took it down. You can just make out the baby cub climbing on a rock in the woods behind her just behind where her ear is pointing:
And here she is walking across the front lawn towards where another feeder usually hangs:

Welcome, hasant! Great to see you over here! This is the best thread on all of BCO (IMO)!
Blah, Karen. I am not envying your travel days! Hope these are no more surprises!!
I scheduled today to be catch up day in the kitchen remodeling. We need to purchase and stain some floor boards, other than that nothing. Flooring is installed tomorrow. PT this morning, I will hang out with DS's little dog for awhile this afternoon (since there is no family leave time for adopting a pet ), Zumba & yoga tonight. My wasp bite ankles STILL hurt!
-
Mary, we must have been posting at the same time. Oh my, those a great bear pictures!
-
Welcome hasant. I agree that this is the best thread on BCo made better by our annual meetups (coming soon ).
Water aerobics this morning. May do something later, perhaps ride my bike some.
Later sculpted friends.
-
Welcome hsant! I also have been trying to exercise in the morning bc of the heat. Sometimes I have to wait until late evening, though.
Nats: The bears are so cute! I would want to watch them all day but glad that you try to scare them away.
Karen: Sorry about your flight being delayed. Sounds exhausting.
Ruth: My stings hurt a little and then itch a little. They aren't as bad as a wasp sting. Hopefully yours will start feeling better soon.
Hi All! I walked/ran this morning in a tiny drizzle. Felt good on my face. I have a long meeting tonight so I made sure I went this morning.
-
Welcome hsant glad to have you join us. Nats love the bear pics, they look ever so cute but I saw an exhibit once and their claws are ferocious. Wonderland wouldnBenadryl help with the itching? Karen sorry about your miserable travel experience, wishing you a safe journey home.
Tonight went to Body Jam - Heidi my Jam friend where are you? -
Hsant - welcome!! Nice to see a fellow hiker on the thread. Karen - hope you finally got home. What a mess. Ruth and Wonder - hope those stings are clearing by now. Forgot I have my annual MO appt this afternoon - I just checked my calendar for today and there it was. At least I'd already put in for leave when I made the appointment last year. Those appts are a bit stressful, so maybe it worked out well that I haven't been thinking about it till now.
Standard 2.5 mile run this morning along the golf course. It was blessedly cool and lovely, with a beautiful sunrise. I even had some spectators to cheer me on!
-
Hope you had a nice, boring appointment, Nats.
POUND and Barre today. My flooring was installed today......next on the docket are the cabinets!
-
Been MIA for a bit. Went on a couples golf trip this past weekend. 22 people in all. Have only played 2 times this summer due to Rads and the heat. Did manage to do both days of 18(I'm more of a nine hole girl!) and dinner but had to beg off evening activities. When dear friends will I have my energy back? I'm getting discouraged.
Love the pictures of the bear too cool!
Ruth so much progress can't wait to see it done.
The lake house purchase is making progress! We should be able to close by end of month! So excited and still stunned we did this!😃 I have been painting furniture to bring as there will be no new purchases until we decide to sell our current home.I do love repurposing older things so it is fun. My DH coaches the high school girls Varsity ball team and don't know how much longer he might want to do it.
Tomorrow pilates

Dear PlanB, it takes a LONG time. I once read that however long you were in 'active treatment', it will take that long again to get back to 'normal'.......but from my experience, I would say to double it. That is the 'bad news' (or aggravating news anyway). The good news is that once you get there, you can keep going and be even better than before!
-
Mary- those are some cool bear pics! I have never seen one that up close. I think I would be scared to death.
Sorry about the bee stings. I got stung last week too. Just once and it hurt!! I am allergic to yellow jackets so I was concerned but no reaction (just localized swelling) so it was probably a wasp. How can one little insect inflict so much pain
Today I did my LIVESTRONG program which included weight machines and a yoga class. Then I hopped in the pool and swam a half mile. Finished it off with some stretching in the hot tub.
We spent the evening watching the Olympics. Enjoyed watching swimming and gymnastics.
-
Thanks for the warm welcome!
Nats, wow! Those are great pics of the bear. I'm pretty positive (meaning absolutely sure) I would freak out if I saw one. Also, very nice photo of the deer and sunrise. I see a good amount of deer on my hikes, but I am either too slow with my phone, or the photo comes out blurry. So, I don't think National Geographic is going to be knocking on my door anytime soon.:)
Ruth, it's sounds like your on the last stretch of your kitchen remodel. What kind of countertops, back splash and cabinets did you choose? Very exciting! How do you like the barre classes?I've found a couple of studios in this area, and am curious about it.i hope your ankles are feeling better. Wasp stings, yikes!
Wonderland, I take care of my dad, so early morning works best for me with respect to getting my butt moving. I also hope your stings are better (bee?).
hbCheryl, I noticed you live inOC. I live in Santa Monica, but I've been in Ohio taking care of my dad. I miss southern CA!
I did my usual trail this morning. It was especially humid. Lot's of folks out at 6:30. I hike/walk in a metro park close to my dad, and surprisingly there are a lot of good options, so It's almost impossible to get bored.
Hope everyone has a great day!

I can't take credit for being brave around black bears as they look a lot scarier than they really are. We've had our cabin for 8 years and I've learned a lot about them. They actually are shy creatures that want to be left alone and are quite easy to scare off - even just shouting at them will do it it most cases. They're also mostly vegetarian, preferring seeds, berries, twigs, and much to farmers' dismay, they like corn and other crops. Although they will eat some meat, it's mostly things like insects and carrion - they tend to not be raging hunters like grizzlies and polar bears. But that's not to say that you can treat black bears casually. You still need to respect them and their potential - as Cheryl said, those claws alone demand respect! I feel very lucky to be able to experience them - from behind the safety of our windows!
Thankfully it was a very uneventful MO visit yesterday. She's going to try to see if she can order the BCI genomic test to be done on my original tumor to gauge whether I'm at low or high risk for recurrence. I did my 5 years of Femara and have been off it for 3 years, but as we all know there are still unanswered questions about whether 10 years might be better. These new tests are amazing - so many things are available now that weren't around when I was dx 8 years ago - progress is really being made.
-
Walking with my 'dippy' friends, Zumba Lite (substitute teacher), and yoga. Busy day!
-
Making progress in the kitchen remodel........my assignment today was to make a couple runs to Menards, and stay out of the way!
-
How exciting, Ruth.
I'll try to start posting. Here incentive. But, tomorrow I leave on a 6 day trip.
-
Idid a Zumba class today with my two daughters. Ages 21 and 24. It was fun and very sweaty. When I had no idea what to do, I just kept moving till I caught on.
-
Hit estate sales and consignment shops with a friend moving here with nothing (was living in her MIL home) then pickleball this evening. Had cooler days for a few but today got warm and very humid again so I think we flooded the courts with our sweat. Water volleyball tomorrow - YAY!
Night sculpted friends.
-
Hi All! Just a quick note as I'm ready to go to bed.
Ruth: I really like how your kitchen is progressing!
Ginger: these little insects really do create a lot of pain! Sounds like you caught on quickly in the zumba class.
Nats: Yea for uneventful MO visits!
Walked/ran this morning before the rain. Had a late night meeting to attend.
-
Thanks for the encouragement Ruth. I will keep moving forward and try to be more patient! Kitchen coming along nicely!
Pilates this am and swimming this pm
-
Thanks for letting me barge in.
Today is a travel day, so exercise will be going through 2 airports. And handling the heat.
-
I hiked my usual route this morning. It was only 73 degrees, but really humid (100%). I didn't sleep that well last night, and it was hard to drag my butt out of bed, but I did it!
-
Ooo Ruth - wow - the kitchen looks great. And I love how your big window just floods it with light. Kaption - welcome! And yes, travel these days definitely counts as exercise! Ginger - I did a Zumba class and that's pretty much what I did too - just kept moving even if I wasn't doing what everyone else was. Hsant - I'm impressed that you got out there in that kind of weather!
I was going to run this morning, but it was 79 degrees and super-humid at 5:30am (!), and I just couldn't make myself get out there. Instead, I hauled out the foam roller and did a good session with it and did a lot of stretching as well, so at least I did something. The weather is supposed to be even nastier this weekend in DC. We're going up to the cabin which is normally cooler, but even the forecast for up there is hot and humid. Yuk.
-
hi, everyone, especially to hsant and kaption. I haven't posted for a couple of days because i intended to reveiw the posts and let them know this is only nominally an exercise thread and really a complete education in totally random things, eg you can actually see bears without bars in between, 75 degrees is not a heatwave (it so is!) and spatching is to do with plastering. Now I've been sidetracked yet again........what, patoo, is pickleball? Do you kick it or eat it??
natsfan, so glad about your mo visit.
-
Ruth, your kitchen is looking great. Wonderland ouch, so sorry.
At the gym feeding the Fitbits and hoping for clear skies. I'm exhausted but sooo want to photograph the Perseid meteor shower tonight. I can sleep during PT tomorrow.
