    s1d1, Bagsharon:

    I had a lumpetomy with radioactive seed 2+ weeks ago. The seed procedure was very straightforward..just a pinch for me and a tiny bit sore, similar to biopsy. I had a very attractive radiologist who did the procedure so perhaps I was distracted. ! Lol. It's very simple though.

    I was also very nervous going into surgery but I talked myself into it the same way I did childbirth - So many others have braved this before me and I could do it too! This, along with support people at the hospital, and I talked to all the staff as I went along, helped me

    Good luck to you both this week! We will all be in your pocket. :)

    Good Luck to all of us this month. Going for my cami fitting today, it will be delivered to the hospital. Then it's prep work for being down from Surgery. Gotta stay busy or I'll go nut, lol. Had my Bye Bye Boobie party this weekend as well as a last Summer motorcycle ride. Hoping to be able to do a couple of Fall ones, I love the leaves changing the rides are beautiful. See you all on the flipside.

    I've been so busy with work this last week getting everyone ready for when I leave that I haven't had a chance to dwell on my surgery, but I'm starting to get nervous now.

    I'm having a skin sparing Mx of my left breast (and sentinel node) on August 29. I'll have immediate abdominal flap reconstruction at the same time.

    Eager to get rid of this cancer--surgery can't come soon enough.

    On the other hand, I have three kids, two of which we need to deliver to college between now and then.

    Can't believe how much I've learned about BC since diagnosis on June 14! (Anyone else waited this long for treatment to begin? I trust my surgeons but this makes me anxious.)

    MPBRlove I was diagnosed at end of Feb and began chemo March 8th, so my treatment was fast (chemo first, then surgery, then radiation). Would drive me crazy to wait 2 months to get things started.

    I'm having a mastectomy on Aug. 9th and I'm turning into a nervous wreck 😬 I had the lumpectomy with reduction and lift in May to prepare me for a nipple sparing mastectomy. It's unnerving knowing that I still have 2 surgeries ahead of me. I am grateful to have great doctors who have done there best to explain all this too me. I thought I was mentally prepared, but when my daughter's dentist asked me how I was doing, I just started to cry

    Boy do I know what you all mean about anxious and Scared. I did well until today, now I'm going crazy with worries. And I'm finally realizing what is going to happen and I will never be the same. Kind of scary.

    Good luck Bagsharon! You will be in my thoughts! I love the pic and idea of your party, Wilmama! There are a lot of us having something done on Aug 4 th. Good luck to everyone! I met with my PS today for pre op and I came away upset and disappointed. I told him I was allergic to tape and he told me it probably wasn't the tape but something that was put on my skin first. I told him no, I am 66 and have gotten rashes and itching from band aids all my life!!! He said that he "maybe" could use glue but... Really? I can't believe I am his first allergic tape person! We interviewed two PS and this one had the most experience. Now, I am upset with his dismissive attitude toward me. Should I tell him how I feel when he marks me before surgery or wait till after surgery? I know it's his experience that's important but he was different when we interviewed him! Today he was rushed. I was scared to death before now I am scared and worried

    I was diagnosed on 10/5, spent time waiting for appointments with oncologists, more biopsies, etc. Didnt have surgery until 12/10.

    My husband reminded me today that I got into the back seat of the car and slept on the way home after my first surgery. Guess I better remember to take a pillow and blanket with us next week. We are spending the night near the hospital the night before, so I need to remember my surgical soap too.

    Hi all,

    I've been home a few hours. When I first woke up I had some pain, probably a 4 on a 1-10 scale. I took one oxycodone which has long worn off and I really have no pain now.

    My surgeon met with my family while I was in recovery so I got a lot of information second hand and I have a lot of questions. I was told 4 (maybe more?) nodes were taken. I'm curious about the unknown number. Is additional flesh taken with SNB? Or was an axillary dissection done? She also told my family my Oncotype score (20) but they didn't understand the significance of that.

    I did get some written after care instructions. They seem a lot more relaxed than my biopsy instructions. I can shower as soon as tomorrow morning without water proof bandaging! However, there is something about reaction to a blood transfusion. Was this page put in there by mistake or did I have a blood transfusion? I can't wait for the follow-up call tomorrow.

    The bright blue pee is quite festive.

    I didn't have any tissue taken with the node dissection, just the four nodes. I just have a small incision from that.

    Bagsharon, glad to hear that you made it through and doing well. A shower on day two is cause to celebrate.! Rest up and let yourself heal. :)

    My surgeon said vaguely post op that there were a few nodes taken out, but it turns out there were only 2.

    Hi Blueorange, I am having same on Aug. 4th. Not terrified, just not looking forward to the aftermath of pain and restrictions. I see this as an opportunity to extend my life and live happily ever after.

    Hi, I was set to have my surgery yesterday (Aug 2) but after 7 hours at the hospital my surgery was cancelled due to trauma's brought in. I totally get that trauma's take priority and after a little meltdown I am rescheduled for next Wednesday Aug 10). I feel like I am on the edge of tears constantly and I know it's part of the "process" One thing is concerning me and I haven't been able to talk to a doctor about this and it is the fact that I had been given the needles in areola that contained the small amount of radioactive material....wondering what happens to that stuff?!

    anyone else experience a last minute cancellation?.....any tips to get these emotions in check?

    Wow, sorry that happened to you, Deep Blue. I assume they will have to redo the radioactive tracer. You must be at a smaller hospital if they cancelled you for emergencies. My surgeon only does breast cancer surgeries.

    Bagsharon, so glad it went well. Beebs, I am in Ottawa too! Who was your surgeon? My lumpectomy next Monday will be at the General with Dr. Arnaout. MPBRlove, I have been waiting a similar length of time. Diagnosed on June 24 and finally having surgery Aug. 8. The waiting is pretty difficult

    Aug 11 Bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction. Terrified as i have small panic attacks at the sight of a needle and never have had surgery before.
