Car Accident....Pain...

I am having great difficulty getting help for pain. I was stopped for a school bus loading children. I was rearended by a car & was hit so hard, the frame of my Volvo was bent. The seat belt pain is still awful. In my chest, ribs, & abdomen. The nerve pain is worse than it was after surgery. Please tell me the effects of impact on radiated areas, abdominal scars (DIEP flap), mastectomy site, & ribs. I have been in pain since November 30, 2015 & can't figure out how to get doctors to believe me. I refuse pain meds because I hate how I feel on them.

    I don't understand (1) Why your doctors don't believe you, and (2) Why you are refusing (all?) pain meds, possibly without seeing if they might help? Did you have a full evaluation of your injuries when you had the accident or since it happened?

    As far as pain meds, there is such a wide range of them, surely there must be something that could help you without making you feel horrible, which I totally understand. Have you been referred to or seen a pain (palliative care) doctor? I would think, perhaps with trial and error, they would find the right med(s) to calm down what sounds like maybe nerve pain vs. structural damage. So maybe even an evaluation by a neurologist would be appropriate? Just some ideas off the top of my head, and so sorry you're in pain.
