I have a large area on my breast covered in a red patch, not where they inserted for biopsy. They said I could resume nursing and my milk (fresh blood no milk) is completely blood. My doctor is confused and I'm going in at noon, anyone experience this after MRI guided biopsy?

I just had the biopsy done yesterday morning.

I was icing the incision area and not the area biopsied so that caused the redness. The doctor told me they should have explained that to me. No more redness, but still bleeding and no breast milk :( she was confused, but thinks my milk should come soon.. I hope so..

Sorry that you are having that issue...I hope that this all resolves for you very soon. :)

I didn't have this type of biopsy, but I had a stereotactic biopsy on Tuesday morning. I had bleeding from the nipple during the procedure and they told me that I should expect it afterwards. They went on to explain that sometimes they hit a blood vessel because of where they have to biopsy and it is near one of the milk ducts and it needs to heal completely before it will stop bleeding. Fortunately I am not breastfeeding so I am not sure about the milk not coming. (My best guess is since they are both liquids, the milk is going to look like blood until it is healed)...I just got a huge internal hematoma that feels like a large lump and very bruised.

I went to the doctor again for my results and it's still bleeding. She told me not to pump from that side for a week at least and then told me to try again. It's straight blood, no milk. :o
