Thanks to everyone here - Final Decision and OK with it !

Hi everyone.....

   I want to thank every single one of you for sharing  your d/x's and stories and the updates of everything you have gone through. It's because of all of you I have been able to make a final decision of a BMX with no reconstruction.

Even though my DCIS is a Stage O high grade with all the medical terms that go along with it. 

All of you convinced me this is the road that would be the best for me....and I thank you all for that. In my heart I know I would not be able to live with one cell left behind.

After my atypical meningioma tumor removal, I lived for too many years ....concerned it could come back. I had a wonderful neuro surgeon who has so upset that it was not a benign meningioma, that's what he had hoped the pathology would be. I shall never forget his words he hoped he had not left one cell behind. It would only take one cell.   MRI's within weeks of the surgery, every three months, to eventually every six months then nine months, then finally yearly. The reality of such a surgery really didn't hit me until 3 months later, your brain which holds the essence of who you are, your memories, feelings, ability to function....that was overwhelming and took a while to come to terms with.  

The Women's Center schedule meetings for you to meet with different doctors to guide you for your decision (they were fabulous). I had been considering instead of just the Simple Mastectomy to rethink for a simple &  prophaltic  mastectomy (not going to have reconstruction).  In the end I decided for both to be removed which I know this is not where they thought I should go and that it is over the top. I can't disagree with them, but it's not for me, I want to get the surgery completed, get through the recovery, and not have to go to radiation, chemo or medications. 

All of you are amazing and the most courageous strong group. Thanks to all of you.....Roll on .....August 10th and get this over with....Love to you all
