Vibrations in Lumpectomy Breast
Hi All
I had a lumpectomy 12/11 followed by radiation. I stopped taking Tamoxifen after 4 1/2 yrs in April/May without telling my Onco because of the pain and horrible side effects I was having. I feel so much better pain wise but all of a sudden I'm getting this weird vibration feeling in my lumpectomy breast, it started a few days ago and is very noticeable and happens very frequently - anyone else have this issue and is it a sign of reoccurrence or just nerve damage/recover?
Thanks!

It could definitely be related to nerves, but any change warrants a phone call to your MO or BS. Hoping it's just nerves or some other normal process.

I had a lumpectomy on Oct 7, 2015, followed by radiation for 5 weeks. The cancer was Stage 1b, 1.2 cm, E and PR positive, HER2 negative, sentinel lymph nodes negative. I was OK through the radiation which ended Dec. 21, 2015. Just the expected sunburn, etc. Then about mid February the lumpectomy breast began to become larger, the skin became orange peel like and was sunburned along the lines of the radiation field. I had researched my symptoms and they were well-described as Radiation Recall, which I told my doctor Spent 8 weeks being tested for 1) come back in two weeks (to make sure that it wasn't just temporary), 2) on antibiotics to rule out an infection, 3) off of the estrogen synthesis disrupter for two weeks, 4) had a biopsy for histological examination. The doctor then told me I had Radiation Recall ! She then referred me to the Radiation Oncologist who said I could have 1) steroid treatment, 2) barometric chamber (2h/day for 40 days) if my insurance would cover it and 2) a mastectomy if the aesthetic or pain that I experienced bothered me. He then referred me to the Gastroenterologist.
Since then I have moved and have yet to find a new doctor. In July I began having this tingling, vibrating, as if something were tunneling under the skin in the area around the incision site. It has become more frequent and more intense. I expect that it is nerve regrowth, but wish that my doctors had done more than wash their hands of me.
This doesn't really help, but for me (at least) it helps to know that someone else knows what I am talking about/experiencing. -

Hi Durante, it's funny ya said so! I stopped Tamoxifen 2 months ago, and like you and Mommado, I have been feeling the same kind of thing! It's creepy! And since I stopped the T, of course that's where my mind goes.

OMG! I had a mastectomy, with DIEP reconstruction. The last few weeks I have had this weird sensation in my reconstructed breast. I have even thought maybe the fat tissue is dissolving or could it be something to worry about.. I have been on Tamoxifen for about 6 yrs. I am due for my mammogram next month and going to bring it up.

I alway called mine phantom pains. I had lumpectomy too. Doc ended up sending me to a pain management doc and they tried to treat it like nerve pain.
As far as the Radiation Recall, docs never brought that up with me. I found that lymphedema also does the orange peel look thing and I went to a LE therapist. Once the swelling went down the orange peel effect went away. It sure is a roller coaster ride! We will be in your pocket any time you need us!

So nice to hear others having this same weird sensation and that it seems to be just that - weird sensation and nothing more! Durante - I like your explanation of Nerve Regrowth - it sounds like a good thing
I do feel we get a lot of non-answers from doctors, I love mine and would follow her to the moon if she moved there but I too sometimes feel like I'm being blown off for things like this - I'd rather hear, we really don't know but it doesn't seem to be a bad thing or anything to worry about...
