Let's Post our Daily Exercise

Grainne if 76 is a heat wave for you, you must live in a very mild climate! I am just over that Wisconsin/Illinois line near the lake on Badgers map. Unfortunately the summer winds are typically from the hot southwest but the last three or so days it has been NNE. That's when we get some nice cooling effect and I just love the smell of the air.
I am not sure how to motivate youngsters on the exercise front except try to do things with them from a young age. I was in and out of fitness all my life-not consistent. If we had done it as a family I think I would have been more consistent.
Karen that sounds like a lovely hike. Post us a picture if you can.
I mowed the back yard this morning, 30 minutes, and then walked the dog 35. I'm waiting on my DH so I can walk him now
-
Karen you hike sounds delightful. Enjoy the time with your DD Grainne.
Badger/Ruth I don't have her email address yet but Guitar Girl is going to join us in San Antonio, she will be on a road trip and in Austin the week before we get there, so she will stay there and drive down to San Antonio and hang with us for a few days.
Great lunch with the San Diego ladies, did stop at the outlet mall on the way home but didn't buy anything then had to battle very heavy traffic on the way back up. -
Just browsing by to say HI! Busy day between church and politics so no exercise except for my mouth and stomach. Water aerobics tomorrow.
Yay, another one for San Antonio. Getting closer - so excited. Was almost ready to complain that I did not meet Eduardo but then remembered that I had not yet arrived in CA so you all are off the hook. hbcheryl, What gym did you find in San Antonio and will we be able to do guest passes or pay to take the BodyJam class with you? I'll probably also be in the back stretched out comatose 10 minutes in but willing to give it a try.

That would be great, Cheryl. Get her email address to me and we'll get her on the list.
Yesterday I did go do an hour on a bike. I was so busy today that I didn't have time to exercise until tonight. Since it was hot/humid/buggy out, I did an exercise DVD. I have to start unpacking the kitchen tomorrow because the demo starts Thursday.....also have to clean the garage because the old cabinets are going to be hung up in there for more storage. I'm tired just thinking about it!
-
Two....I've never managed to figure out how to post pictures here. I have lots and lots and lots of photos
-
If you took pictures on your phone, the easiest way is to get a picture here is to come into BCO on that phone and go up to the little bar above where you are posting. Click on the one that looks like mountains and it will bring you to 'Insert Image'. Then it will say 'choose files'. Click that. Go to 'my files', Device Storage, find your pictures, click and done.
-
Otherwise you can download them and get to them that way.
-
I am sitting in my recliner for 15 minutes before going to Zumba & yoga. We start the kitchen remodel Thursday, so today I have been unloading the kitchen (also the front hall because I am going to paint & redo the flooring there too).Yikes! Lots of work!!!! I will have to finish up tomorrow & then start in the garage, because we are going to put the present cabinets up there for some more storage. Not looking forward to spending quality time out there because it is so hot & humid.
-
Hi all busy weekend here. Did get some walking and Pilates in. I seriously love all your pictures and your long term positive relationships! Certainly some BC silver lining here!
Twohobbies I laughed out loud about you walking you DH!!
Grainne so fun to celebrate with our children enjoy!
Ruth don't forget the before and after pics of the remodel all that work counts as functional exercise in my book!
Karen are you returning soon? Your summer has been amazing.
-
Water aerobics this morning then finally started hitting the bins in the garage to empty and place some in the attic. Actually placing in the attic will probably end up with just huge lumps of plastic - the attic is soooooooooooo hot, I'm sure it's above 100 degrees up there daily. So have another bunch of stuff for donation and trash but this is finally the end of the tunnel.
BTW, still car still in the shop and I'm in a rental. Good news is the AC is covered under warranty as is the rental car. I'm a happy camper.

One more blast from the past. Our 2013 March On Washington. Here we are hiking around the memorials on a day when the heat index was 125 degrees. OMG, I have never been so hot in my life!!!!!!!
Patoo, me, and Badger in the back, Natsfan, Odie16, hbcheryl, and Wonderland in the front. Real troopers all!
-
My gosh we were troopers that day, so hot and humid and that is why I'm always so impressed with Nats and Wonderland living and exercising in that oppressive heat. Patoo it's Golds and yes we can get in, all gyms have day passes that you can buy and I'm a member of Golds here in OC. Glad to know your a/c is covered under warranty cause that's an expensive fix. Ruth good luck with the remodel and yes before and after pictures.
Tonight went to Cardio Dance Party class then to Costco so that added a few steps to the old Fitbit. -
Hi all. Back walking yesterday after falling completely by the wayside on Sunday. I did a forest walk I've done a lot but everything is very overgrown at the moment and it felt a bit claustrophobic. A deer spooked me a bit ( until I realised it was a deer and not an axe murderer stalking me through the undergrowth). I was glad my son was running the same route and within screaming distance!
-
Grainne - sounds like you're enjoying having your daughter home. Champagne is always a great way to celebrate. LOL on the deer/ax murderer - I bet that got your heart going! Karen - yes, we definitely want pictures! So Ruth, you not only are re-doing the kitchen, but thought you'd throw a re-do on the front hall in as well. Just for fun, huh? I'm impressed with your ambition. And thanks for posting the DC picture of all of us in front of the Lincoln Memorial - what a day that was. But we saw everything there was to see, didn't we?? I've told friends about all we did that day in the heat, and believe me, even the DC locals are impressed with what we accomplished that day.
Patoo - be sure to check what you're putting in those attic boxes. We'd always stored our Christmas decorations in the basement in our old house, but when we moved to our current house that doesn't have a basement, we stuck all the decorations up in the attic. When we brought them down this past Christmas, all my decorative candles were twisted and pooled where they'd melted over the summer. Not only the candles were ruined, but some tablecloths and decorations had to be tossed as they were covered in wax. Not a great way to kick off the season!
Another hot sticky run this morning - not quite as warm as it's been - low 70's instead of mid to high 70's but the humidity is still nasty. No deer this morning, not even the fawns. I have my monthly lymphedema therapy session this afternoon - for those of you who don't know, one part of treating LE is manual lymph drainage, which is a special massage done in a specific order. When nodes are removed, lymphatic fluid in the arm and shoulder area has no place to drain and it pools there. This special massage moves that fluid to other nodes in the body where those remaining nodes can drain that excess fluid. Basically, it's a lovely massage. I always end up relaxed, and it's so nice to get excess fluid moved out.
-
Went to POUND, and am now taking a little break from stripping off some wallpaper (which is going surprisingly well, probably due to the fact that it is up there by force of habit). Nats, we have a split level house. You go up the stairs & the living room is on the right and kitchen straight ahead. Right now I have the same flooring and paint color in the front hall and the kitchen & I like the way it ties things together (plus the front hall flooring is shot, and it needs repainting anyway). Okay, back to work!
-
The humidity is back and the temp is rising, oh joy, so I can truly feel the heat when you remember your Washington DC trip. Today I went for a bike ride for 30 minutes, and yesterday I did a 25 minute walk.
Can't wait to see your kitchen remodel, Ruth.
-
I just got in from a 5k run post processing and uploading the proceeds from yesterday's golf tournament. Needed to clear my head as one learning is that the final roster of players bears very little resemblance to who signed up! In other news, got in a 35 mile ride on Sunday and a lot of running around yesterday.
I also won getting myself and bicycle transported back from Vancouver BC, so I can now do that ride as well in a little over 10 days. Wasn't sure it would happen, but all is well now. Better train, but I have learned that I always somehow find the energy to finish these things.
Debating whether to do the lavender ride on Saturday. One thing I know for sure is that it will whip my sorry hide into shape.
So much to get done, so little week left. - Claire
-
That is funny about the golf tournament Claire. TH don't envy you that heat and humidity. Good luck with your remodel Ruth you certainly won't have to go to exercise class what with all the demo you're doing, unless of course you need to get away from your DH in case you want to hit him with a hammer
Tonight went to Body Pump, working on my arms for Hannah's wedding, she is in the wedding diet mode, she joined weight watchers and has lost 9lbs in the past 2 weeks, basically we're eating the same thing and I've gained 2lbs, oh to be young and have great metabolism!!!
-
While I'm thinking about it, here is a 'before' picture of my kitchen.
-
Walking in the park. I walked with the 'slow' group and did okay. PT and spackling this afternoon.
-
Finally caught a bit of a break at work. My body is paying in spades from the missed PT and not enough time at the gym. Back at it today and back to PT on Friday. Huge shout out to whomever suggested the rechargeable fan. Fits in the drink pocket of the dreadmill.
Feeding the Fitbits despite the HotLanta weather.
Scottie
-
Cheryl: You are cracking me up!
Ruth: Your picture looks so bright and cheery. And look how tan you are!
Scottiemom: That treadmill looks intimidating to me. Glad you know how to use it and really glad the fan works out for you.
We have finally been having rain. I was able to walk/run today. The city park trail where I normally walk was being repaired from heavy rain damage so I went to another city trail. My time was quicker because this one has a longer flatter stretch than one I regularly use.
-
Wonderland, don't be too impressed; it's a spray tan. I had to give a little talk at a local museum Sunday & I didn't want anyone to be blinded by my white legs!
-
Ruth: Now you have me cracking up!!!
-
Nats, only empty bins went up into the attic. Have downsized so much that there is very little to store. I'm not a keeper so my poor sons will not inherit anything of value. Still to go are most of the Christmas decorations consisting of those houses you setup to make a 'Village'. Kept a few ornaments but not sure why since I don't plan to put up a tree anymore. Maybe they will go on the outside since I will put out lights. We'll see.
Unable find my fitbit again. It's somewhere in this house I'm sure. Did my 5 mile Walk Away the Pounds class yesterday and today did some shopping and then played an hour of pickleball this evening.
Think will hit the pool tomorrow.
Night sculpted friends.
-
Pilates today
Ruth big kitchen! I don't envy the emptying of the cabinets but the finished product I'm sure will be worth the work! Projects seem to snowball! Glad the wallpaper is cooperating.
The fan is a great idea.
Keep moving everyone!
-
Scottie - I think I'm the one who wrote about the fan - at least your fan looks exactly like my fan, except mine is blue. I love mine, and not just on the treadmill. I took it with me when we went to the ballgame a few weeks ago on a hot hot night -- I had it blowing on me the whole game, and it really helped. I also found out that night that it really holds a charge - 3+ hours and it was still going strong. Patoo - you say your poor sons won't inherit anything of value. Think of it this way - your sons will inherit the gift of not having to sort through boxes and boxes and boxes of saved stuff - anyone who has had to do that knows that the gift of decluttering is a great inheritance to leave them. But not any time soon, of course! Hope you find the Fitbit soon.
2.5 mile run this morning - it was blessedly cool at 64 degrees - still warmer than I like but much better than running in 76 degrees! Had a minor face off with a 6-point buck that hangs around our house. We've dubbed him Sir Nubs, and he was grazing near the path I was on. I got within about 10 feet of him as he stared at me - he finally sighed and moved off a few feet so I could go past. I think he or his doe friend are the ones who "trimmed" my hostas. They do quite a bit of "pruning" in everyone's gardens - on my way back I saw the doe casually eating the roses off a neighbor's rosebush - like she didn't have a care in the world.

Top photo is a selfie at the Dead Sea, middle photo a selfie at the Kotel (Western Wall) and bottom was taken in Cae
-
Thanks Ruth. Do easy from my iPhone. Never worked with the computer.
PlanB, I'm here for 4 more days. 😥 It's been a great trip and sorry to see it come to an end, but it's time to get back to reality! I've been in Israel for 4 weeks and been gone for 5 weeks!
Going to take a picture of the sun setting over the Mediterranean!
-
Hi All, Fun to read all your posts! Trying to keep up with exercise, but if you want to know what HOT is, try Florida in the summer! Even the pools are like bath water! Am doing my Walk Away class and made Patoo's this week too. Doing another tomorrow. There are regular work-out equipment gyms here too. I need to start doing that again. Going to Oregon later this fall and can't wait! Then, onto Hawaii.....putting Patoo on cat duty again! Looking forward to some hiking.
I am doing some online training to be a volunteer Reach to Recover coach with ACS. So, today's exercise is with my fingers!
, and going to a pot luck social tonight so will be exercising my jaws! Ha Ha
