I just called my insurance and asked if a 2nd opinion on pathology was covered and they said no. I was told by my doctor that they usually retest with another hospital if it's negative or positive. I go to get my 3 biopsies tomorrow and not sure if I should go to the hospital I'm going to now..

I looked into having my slides sent to Johns Hopkins. It is only a few hundred dollars. Search Johns Hopkins Breast Cancer second opinion.

In the end I called up my pathology department and spoke to the chief of staff. He pulled my slides and took another look for free. He also answered all my questions. Pathologists don't get much patient interaction and I think as a whole they are happy to speak to patients.

Hi Dandelion, what's wrong with the hospital where you have biopsies done? If you haven't had your results yet why are you concerned about 2nd opinion on pathology results?

they called me today to let me know everything about tomorrow. They said if it comes back positive or negative they will send out since my MRI had multiple areas of concern and I have the dimpling in the areas. I'm just concerned how much it could be. They told me to come and worry about financials later, which is 100% true.

due to my insurance all my slides are sent to labcorp, which my dermatologist didn't even trust after my mole biopsy.
