Waiting on a call from my doctor (hopefully today) after my mammogram and ultrasound. 2 spots were found on my ultrasound. I keep telling myself they are probably just cysts and I'm going to get a call from the doctor and he will tell me everything is fine... all this worry will be for nothing and I'll fell like a dork... but then I have this anxiety over the thought of him calling and it's not all fine.... it's true the waiting is torture.

My ultrasound took about 40 mins is this normal for a first ultrasound?

Waiting is THE worst part, for sure! 40 mins is a long u/s, I'd say, but it sounds as though the tech was being very thorough, which is good. When did you have the ultrasound? I got a call two hours after my u/s from my GP to say that a biopsy would be needed asap, but then I had to wait a week for the biopsy... My ultrasound showed that my mass was spiculated, so I knew that it was malignant based on that even though no one would formally confirm it until the pathology report came in from the core biopsy. Hope for the best and if a biopsy is required, well, you don't necessarily have to panic yet then either - not all biopsies show a malignancy. Wait to find out what you're dealing with before you panic. Come back here and report in though - I'm "in your pocket", as they say around here!

Just heard from the doctor. One was a simple cyst in the left breast 7mm which was of no concern. Then there was a complex cyst in the right breast of 5mm. He said complex cysts they would usually biopsy but because it is so small he suggested that we monitor and do another ultrasound in 6 months. If there are any changes at that time he said they would biopsy it.

You must be feeling relief. I'm very glad that you're not dealing with a malignancy, good news.

    edited to correct typo :)
