Thanks for the feedback. I understand that there is a UK study which started in 2014 http://www.breastpathology.info/Loris.html which is ongoing, as well as a US based study https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT02492607 which will start soon. There was also a TIME article about this http://time.com/4057310/breast-cancer-overtreatmen...

I see that this biggest question is when and or if the in situ will change to invasive...kind of like not knowing when a bomb will go off, if ever.

So, as luck would have it I'm grade 2. So far I'm thinking lumpectomy in the next 6 - 8 weeks. From everything that I've read on these posts, I'm leaning away from rads and running away from ht (Tamoxifin). I guess depending on the outcome of the lumpectomy and the margins etc, I may change my mind. Do you have the link to the study you referenced? Thanks.

XYZ if it helps any, I've had a lumpectomy (and later a bilateral mastectomy), and the lumpectomy is really nothing -- I mean after everything I've been through (not just BMX), if someone said "we need to give you a lumpectomy" I'd be like "ho hum ok." Quick surgery, home the same day, eating ice cream and watching TV that night. If it were me, despite my own concerns with rads and HT, there is no way I would leave a Grade 2 DCIS (on biopsy -- who knows after lumpectomy) inside my body.

I understand your concerns on radiation and HT.

    Good luck with everything!

There are multiple studies on Cav-1 expression that seems to be the strongest predictor of the tumor behavior, regardless of other parameters. Here's a link to one of the studies called "Absence of stromal caveolin-1 expression predicts early tumor recurrence and poor clinical outcome in human breast cancer" - http://ajp.amjpathol.org/article/S0002-9440%2810%2961062-0/fulltext

This test can be done on a CNB sample, I suppose. If anyone here had this test done, I'd very much appreciate the details.
