Lymph node biopsy sent off to pathologist specializing in BC

Options

Hello all,

Quick background: Diagnosed in 2012 with stage one idc. Lumpectomy followed by mammosite therapy. On Arimidex.

Had semi-annual mammogram on July 15th which turned into an ultrasound which led to recommendation of biopsy on a slightly enlarged lymph node.

Had biopsy Monday. Got a call this morning that pathologist is sending off sample to leading BC pathologist. Nurse had no other info except I would have to wait two more days for results.

Ugh. Trying not to panic...

So sorry to hear that you're going through this - the waiting is just plain dreadful, isn't it?

I hope you get your results before the weekend and that it's all benign. Please keep us posted, o.k.?

Sending lots of supportive thoughts your way.

Waiting is the worst. I really wanted to punch the radiologist who ordered the biopsy because this is the second time she has read my scans(I go to a breast cancer center with multiple radiologists that read scans). That time, also, she thought she saw something. Had to have a biopsy. Sample shipped off to second pathologist. Determined to be fat necrosis. So, when she wanted to do another biopsy, I thought, "Here we go again." If it turns out to be something, I guess I'll have to hug her instead of punch her...

I'm sure it's a good thing that she's so careful (although repeated biopsies get old real fast) but the waiting really takes a toll, doesn't it? Hang in there.

I'm glad they are being thorough with you. The last thing you'd want is a suspicion not checked.  That's what you pay them for!  Good luck, wishing you benign results and that they come through before the weekend. Keep us posted. Try to do something fun for yourself.
