Liver lesions but nodes negative

Hi all,

I just received the results of my abdominal CT scan and it said:

"Liver/Bilary System: a few small hypodense liver lesions are incompletely characterized:... (and then it goes on to give the dimensions of each of the three lesions. The largest is 1.4 by 1.1 cm)."

My breast tumour was 2.1 cm and my lymph nodes were negative. My med. onc. said that "chances are good" it is not a metastasis of my breast cancer.

Has any one ever had mets to liver without lymph node involvement? Also, lungs and bone were clear. I didn't have any brain imaging done.

Any advice/experience you can share would be most appreciated. I am in panic mode once again.

Best wishes to all,

Stephanie

Hi Stephincanada, there are several kinds of rather common benign liver lesions. A second opinion from another radiologist might be a good idea if you worry despite what the MO says.

Thanks for your reply, Muska. That offers me hope to cling to. My Med. Onc. is going to order an ultrasound for me, but those results may not be conclusive. Not knowing is more difficult than the actual treatment...

Stephincanada -- I'm sorry to have to let you know that I had lesions that were confirmed to be breast cancer even though I had no node involvement. Cancer typically travels to the liver through the bloodstream not lymph nodes. That doesn't mean that yours is cancer as there are several conditions that cause liver lesions as someone else said. If it were me, I would ask for a biopsy to be sure one way or the other.
