Shoulder Pain

I just had my 12th treatment and I notice my shoulder joints being very sore. Could this be from the radiation? Anyone else experience this?

Also, I am continuing to have nausea. Yesterday it was really bad. I've been given anti-nausea meds by the RAD ONC, even though he says it's not due to RAD TX. But the meds to not help. I hope it goes away soon! Makes me feel icky!

Any improvement in the shoulder pain, Owens69? I have a badly encapsulated shoulder on the cancer side plus Fibromyalgia so am concerned about the impact of radiation. I haven't seen an RO yet.

VLH, I'm sorry... I just saw your message. I just finished RADS last Friday, and yes, the shoulder pain went away gradually. Maybe it was just my body adjusting to the radiation? IDK... I now have achy hips and back and I'm hoping that will diminish quickly!

Owens69 , thanks for the update. Good news on the shoulder and good luck with the hip / back pain!

Owens69, im the same way shoulders hurt and every now and then hip/back pain. i wonder sometimes if it isn't from chemo still.

rgray, fortunately, I didn't need chemo. But I can tell you, the shoulder pain did go away around the third week of treatment. I do have hip pain, however, that I didn't really have before I began treatment. I am two weeks post treatment. :-)

Interesting that you would develop new hip pain. Did you mention it to the RO? It must feel good to have the rads out of the way!

I had a very preliminary appointment with the RO this week and really liked both him & his nurse. They did, however, seem quite concerned about positioning during rads with my restricted range of motion related to the shoulder encapsulation. I have to address the chemo issue first, but I'm wondering if perhaps judicious timing of my usual 800 mg Ibuprofen before treatment & a topical NSAID after would help me stretch high enough without being in a world of hurt that night. (I am allowed to stack the NSAIDs, but typically avoid doing it regularly.)
